Advantages: Stops your shins from breaking!
Disadvantages: smell after a while!

...Shinpads are a vital piece of equipment when it comes to football. From the world cup down to the Preston Sunday League Division Four. All players must wear Shinpads. The main reason for this equipment is it hurts when you get kicked in the shin as the shin is made of two bones (tibia and fibula) and they have only skin for protection. So no real protectection. They also break pretty easyly so the shin pad provides massive protection for this tender part of the body. Anybody who sees the likes of Steven Gerrard lunging in with two feet and Mo Sissoko aswell as Michael Essien and of course the famous Roy Keane can see the need for a suit of armour although this would not be practical so the shin pad is the most comfortable padding available.
