The Pilot LED lighting system is the ultimate back-up light, providing the security of always having a light nearby.
* Primarily designed to replace the standard wire clip on your existing headlamp that uses a rear or remote battery pack
* Also attaches to most headlamps that don't use battery pack wires, and is perfect for attaching to your backpack straps
* Able to easily detach from its clip base, the Pilot is always accessible for use as a handheld light or marker with its emergency signaling mode
* Weighing a mere 0.28 ounce including battery, there is no reason to leave this light at home!
* Powered by a lithium coin cell battery (included), lamp will offer 12 to 14 hours of light in most conditions
Made in USA.

Advantages: Very versatile torch, Good Spot, Cheap Disadvantages: Needs good care
...is very bright and keeps good form, and the aura and outer ring as the light spreads out is constant and also of a good brightness. Burn time is about 70 mins after a four hour charge with the rechargable battery, better with the disposable ones.
The torch itself can only be used below the water, as the HALOGEN bulb burns too hot above the surface. An included fuse, however, makes sure no meltig or damage occurs, and it is easily replacable. There is also a well designed safety catch to stop the torch coming on while in its case/dive bag, positioned over the easily maliable switch.
My only real gripe, at it is a minor thing, is the need to disassemble the unit to get to the rechargable battery plug, breaking the o-ring seals. However, it does get you into the good habit of greasing all the seals every now and again...

Advantages: Very, very bright; Build quality Disadvantages: Large; Ugly
...Bike lights have been coming on in leaps and bounds recently, with LEDs starting to be exploited to remarkable effect. The Blackburn have shown the benefits of that evolution to the full with their Quadrant front light.
As it suggests the name Quadrant means there are four LEDs mounted in this space-age looking contraption. If I'm looking to be picky I'll list this here and now as the only drawback to the light - it's ugly, really ugly. And it's pretty big as well (it has to be, it's powered by four AA batteries), though it managed to fit in between some gear levers and a bell on the bars it was mounted on).
But with that out of the way I have to move on to the extensive positives with this light.
I bought it because I'd recently convinced my girlfriend to start commuting to work by bike, but the impending dark nights were...

Advantages: bright, battery life, small Disadvantages: a bit flimsy
...I've had one of these for 2 years and used it for probably about 70 times. It's used to get the 7 miles (about 35 mins) home from work. I use high capacity rechargeables and the battery life is very good on these. The brightness tends to drop off after 10 hours or so and I usually recharge more regularly than this to keep it bright. I used the non-rechargeables supplied with it and they lasted for most of the first winter.
It is very bright and nearly as good as the halogen light I also have on the bike. It's small and compact and weighs almost nothing without the 4 AA batteries that it takes. I've used it in the rain many times without problem.
It does feel a little flimsy but less so once the batteries are in and if it's lasted for 2 years I cannot complain.
I bought it as a pack with the LD600 Red rear LED which is even...
