I have been a little obsessed with getting into shape for the summer and around Christmas time I bought a few different pieces of equipment to work out with. One of the things I have bought was... more

I've noticed as i have got older and had children that my lifestyle has changed in many ways. One way i am less impressed by is the extra pounds creeping on around the middle. In the past this might have involved me spending a few hours on the exercise bike or in the swimming pool to try and deal with it, but you try doing that with toddlers in tow. The last time my exercise bike got used while the kids were about i accidentally stuck my knee in my 2 year olds eye. I also have the problem of when i finally get them to bed and feed my husband and myself our dinner, i then do not feel like ... more

Advantages Advantages Do the job, make your legs feel lighter and stronger

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can rub a bit, no good for running

Fool that I am, I am one of the expectant many waiting to see if they have a place in next year's London Marathon. This means getting my training sorted out properly, as it's not just something you'd be able to turn up and take part in, naturally. However, time restrictions and location difficulties mean that just going for a run or popping to the gym is not possible. So, I decided to invest in something that would hopefully strengthen my legs whilst walking around the house. These ankle weights will cost you under £10, and are currently available for around the £8 mark. Each one is 2.5 lbs ... more

I cancelled my Gym membership at Esporta a few months ago, as I could no longer justify paying the ridiculously high monthly membership costs during these times of hardship and employment uncertainty. I do aim to join back up to another local gym (which charges less than half the price of Esporta) around springtime next year once the predictable new year resolution provoked 'January Gym Boom' has been and gone. Until that time, I have been using lots of my (quite large) personal collection of gym equipment and accessories that I have accumulated at home over the past 10 years or so. One of the ... more

Pro Fitness 2 x 2.5lb Ankle Weights On yet another exercise regime a few years back, I decided what I needed, but didn't yet haave, was some ankle weights to aid in the toning and weight loss I so desperately wanted. The cheapest option seemed to be, as it always does for me, going to Argos where the set of two ankle weights cost £7.99 pence which worked out not too bad in comparison to other weights such as this from a branded fitness company. The weights are Velcro strapped and are easily adjustable for different sized ankles. Mine being of the chubby type I was worried that they would feel ... more

As a budding and competitive athlete, although not a very good one, I am always trying new training tools and ideas to improve all aspects of my fitness, strength and performance. For a long time people at the club had used these Pro Fitness Ankle Weights to aid their training and I had always resisted but nevertheless I decided to give them a run as of a late and to be fair they have proved to be quite useful. These weights are designed for various different uses, you can use them underneath trousers for every day chores and walking to take off those extra few calories or you can use them ... more
