Growling big cat. The Ford Puma.

Advantages: Great fun to drive
Disadvantages: Expensive

When Ford eventually ended the Probe saga a few years back, I thought to myself " They should concentrate on what they know best". Cheap reliable cars that suit either new drivers (Fiesta's), small families (Focus) and larger families (Mondeo's). Leave the sportier hot hatch type cars to other manufacturers. They had success in the past with The XR series of cars and the RS series. The Fiesta and Escort both proved market winners in the 80's with their great GTI type performance. The Cosworth development team even went one better. Then, the rot set in. Probes proved heavy, slow and unreliable. Ugly huge sports cars without the performance. Ford's fast cars days seem to have passed them by. That was until the unveiling of the Ford Puma. An instant success the world over. It was helped by a clever marketing advert utilising ...

I own a cat a dog and a "PUMA"

Advantages: very pretty to look at gets you noticed.
Disadvantages: blind spots

Puma owner my story.... Hello, firstly I'm not a hairdresser ha ha, it seems lots of my family friends and work colleagues refer to my car as a hairdresser's car, well its not and im not I am in actual fact a nurse. I discovered the puma when I decided to look for a new car I bought magazines and local papers to review " The puma" I don't know that much about cars so I go for looks and wow is this car good looking. After I found a one I liked the look of (a black one) I decided to visit the garage, I saw the car at a local garage and asked the dealer about this beauty they told me some of the features, I was told that the car handles well, is reliable, its a head turner and though a sports car it's affordable and could possibly run some of the more expensive so called sportier cars off the road. In my experience since ...

Punchy Puma

Advantages: Looks
Disadvantages: Insurance

Owned a Puma from new for 18mths now, so had quite sometime to get to know it's characteristics. During the time I've owned the car, its price has fallen dramatically, especially thru car importing. You can pick up a new Puma from Holland now for around 10K, with all mod-cons. My Pumu can be quite a guzzler of fuel (as can any car driven with lead-feet), but generally I average around 27mpg. Servicing falls in at around GPB100 every 12K miles. The insurance is a group 12E, making the car quite expensive to own for younger drivers. Externally the car is layed out as a 2 door - coupe, with bug-eye projector front-lights and neat rear light-nests. The 'Bullit'-fuelled sleak-styling makes the car really stand out from all other Japanese and European cars. Performance is superb in all weathers. The engine is smooth ...
