Advantages: Accurate, even on off centre hits. Disadvantages: Maybe a small decrease in length.
...The most forgiving driver I have ever had. I previously stuck, steadfastly to my old driver, because I used to find the fairway more often with it than any other, but was persuaded to give the R5 a trial. Wow, was I amazed. I find the fairway more now than ever, even when I don't "get it out the middle" The club is so easy to hit, it sits behind the ball just perfectly, giving you all the confidence you need to "rip" one down the middle. I have probably lost 10-12 yards in distance with this club, but because I am on the fairway more often, I'll take it!!! I won't tell porkies, I'm not going to tell you it gets me on all the Par 5's in two, because it doesn't....always! What it does, is keep me in play more often, and if I can play three woods and three irons off the fairway rather than hacking out the rough sideways...

Advantages: Large "Sweet Zone", Accurate and Long. Disadvantages: Superceded by the LD and Speed models.
...I have owned both the 3-wood and 5-wood in the Cobra SZ "Hyper Steel" Fairway Woods series for approximately 8/9 months and I have to say that I am very impressed with their performance. Previously I had not being a confident player with the fairway woods and had struggled for both confidence and consistancy. However, since changing to these clubs I have a new found confidence in my longer clubs and I believe that much of this is due to the amazing contrast between these and my previous woods. The deep face and large clubhead give assurance to even the least confident of fairway woods players and I think that the clubs appearance has had a major affect on me. Cobra advertise this "larger profile" as giving players "longer, more accurate shots" and I cannot argue with that from my experience.
Cobra are becoming a dominant force...

Advantages: Low price, powerful and nice design Disadvantages: Not suitable for high handicaps due to small head size
...The Mizuno MP-001 series of fairway woods are available in a wide range of lofts, with a variety of shaft flexes. Due to being released a few years ago, they are now extremely good value and can be picked up for around £50/£70 (steel/graphite) new and prices are coming down all the time. They are very good looking with a sleek design and look good over the ball. With a simple arrow alignment aid and a compact head these are better suited for the better-player who can guarentee a good strike. Even so, they are very forgiving compared to other low-handicapper woods and hit the ball a long way. In my opinion they are just as good as any other club out and are un-matched for value. For any decent golfer these are a good adition to the golf bag, and the 7-wood in particular is a lovely golf club. If you like to shape the ball it is also easy...
