For all you non-horsy types a rug is a coat that covers the horse's body
from his shoulder to his tail, fastening under his belly and round his
chest. Some horses particularly the finer types racehorses for example have

Derby house catalogue and I was immediately impressed. It covers the horse
from his neck, just behind the ears right to his tail. The neck cover is
removable for milder days; this is secured to the main body of the rug with
a chunky spiral zip. This also has the added bonus of 'laying' the horse's
mane. For all you non-horsy types the horse's mane should lay on the left
hand side, if you look at ...

Advantages: Keeps my old pony warm, dry and cosy Disadvantages: expensive to buy. A bit too much choise!
...I have owned horse wear/ rambo products for several years now and cannot praise them highly enough.
Background
Rambo turnout rugs are made by Horsewear, Ireland, a successful equine (and now also human) clothing manufacturer, which has been in business for over 20 years. They also produce indoor rugs, most notably the Rhino and horse acssesories (travle boots etc). The rambo rug was designed as the first rug not to slip, leak or restrict the ... ...in a row! The Rambo comes in slightly different designs and styles and there is also rhino turnouts as well now. Products
Rambo original: This is the green rug with red cross surcingles, fillet string and front straps. The outer of this rug is ballistic nylon, with a nylon line. It is marketed as waterproof and breathable. It is the product I owned initally for my 14.2hh event pony. He is half thoroughbred but hates being stabled, and despite ...

Advantages: Light, warm, dont slip, never rub, horses seem to like them and dont try to get them off. Excellent value for money. Disadvantages: Expensive to buy, although I believe they are extremely cost effective.
...Someone suggested I buy a Rambo rug, and I laughed when they told me the cost. I was convinced I would be flushing 145 pounds down the drain. This person was so convinced that I wouldnt, that she leant me one of hers to try and was happy to accept the consequences!
My first thought on the Rambo rug was that it was too light, and would slip, or not be warm enough. I also thought that beacuse it was lightweight that it would be easier for my horse ... ...and bought both my horses Rambo rugs over 9 months ago, and both rugs are in petty good condition. They have got the odd small tear from bites over the fences (but thats just part of having a horse...nothing stays 100% forever).
The rugs are simply brilliant, never slipping, and they never leave unsightly rub marks on the horses chests, like others before have. Also, mine both have front fastenings that are made up of a ring and two clips (like ...

Advantages: Breathable, comfortable, waterproof and hardwearing. Disadvantages: absolutely none
I just can't praise Rambo rugs highly enough. Two of my horses have Rambo Turnouts on all through the winter. They both live out with access to a dry shelter and the rugs only come off when I ride them, about twice a week in winter. These rugs are warm and comfortable, they never slip and are completely waterproof. On the coldest night of the year you can slip your hand under these rugs and your horse will be as warm and dry as toast. It doesn't ... ...it may be tempting to go for a cheaper option but I know from experience that this is a false economy. If you stretch to the extra cost of a Rambo it will last you years and you will be thrilled with the quality. Your horse will thank you too! ...

Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: The cost!! But well worth it
I have 2 rambo turnout rugs, the standard rug and also the wug, the wug is the one with attached neck cover/hood.
Both of these rugs are of superb quality, having owned them for 2 years I have just had them washed and re-proofed and they look as good as new. The shiny inside material is excellent for making your horses coat shine!! I use my rambo's on both my old mare (21 years young) and my youngster who is only 3 and neither of them have any rips ... ...rambos are that they are both indoor and outdoor rugs that let the horses skin breathe - so more changing rugs morning and night!!!! They are best left on anyway if wet as the water never gets through them and the heat of the horse will dry them out quicker than if you removed them and left them in a cold feed/tack room to dry!!
I would highly recommend these rugs to anyone, they never seem to slip or move or rub either! Excellent value for money. ...
