Advantages: With four Top 30 singles, it is easy to listen to and could turn anyone into a fan. Disadvantages: The only disadvantage is even in the sales in the shops, its still £9.99 (or there abouts).
the tracks that glide through your ears. The obvious one, their first single from the album, is 'Scar Tissue'. Its a cracking little number - their "Under the Bridge" of the new album. You then have 'Road Trippin', 'This Velvet Glove' and the quite different 'Porcelain'.
Basically, I could go on for ever talking about every track, but I won't. All in all it is one of their best peices of work to date (It comes close to Blood Sugar... and Mother Milk) and even though they seem to have mellowed since the earlier years, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are still by far one of the most talented and popular bands on the planet. They have produced and amazing, easy to listen to, 5* album. Buy it. ...
Advantages: well thought out and complex Disadvantages: length means 1 or 2 poor tracks are inevitible
After just a few months into my new found addiction to rock, I heard the song 'Otherside' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers on the radio. I was hooked by the moment that song first played out and it was to become one of my all time favorites (and no, I do not think that this is an exaggerated statement).
Of course,I knew OF the Chili Peppers by that point, such tracks as 'Under the Bbridge' being unmissable. But no song, even Scar Tissue, made me stand up and take notice as Otherside did. As soon as the first note of that tell-tale baseline came on, i would rush over to the radio and turn it right up. Many a head-banging ensued......
A few weeks later, 'californication'(the single) started playing. That confirmed to me that 'otherside' had not simply been a one off. Without any hesitation, i bought the album and took it on holiday ...
Advantages: Everything about it is great. Disadvantages: Ha!
You all know who are the Red Hot Chili Peppers are, don't you? No? You should do! They've been around for over 20 years now you know! Get with the times will ya? ;o)
For the benefit of those who aren't fortunate to have heard them, the band consists of Anthony Keidis (Vocalist), John Frusciante (Guitarist), Michael 'Flea' Balzary (Bassist) and Chad Smith (Drummer). The band has had many formations of members but this was the one at the recording of this album, and is like that at this present time.
This is the 4th Chili Peppers' album, and definitely the best (By The Way is good, but nothing compares to this).
I love all the tracks on this album, every single one has something special about it, something different which makes it seperate from all the others. There are 17 tracks in total, but I'm too lazy to review all of them ...
