So good I've got three of them

Advantages: Timeless styling,very duarble, exceptionally comfortable, repairable in almost all cases(see review)
Disadvantages: Requires regular checking and one rewax at least once a year, can smell, heavyweight classic wax designs not available in blue or black.

Not just for the Horsey set

Advantages: Indestructable, and the only jacket you'll ever need
Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth every penny

...Ranger Handbook' in which - Barbour was the die-facto brand of choice. This, predictably, resulted in thousand of generic copies, many produced in the far east, all featuring moss green waxed cotton, tartan lining, and big chunky zips. The cost of the genuine article still remains a premium, typically £150, although cheaper and more expensive models are available, how come there's still a market for these, when you can typically pick up a 'copy' ...
...keep out the rain! Barbour claim to use only the highest quality materials, long fibre Egyptian cotton, brass fittings (so it doesn't rust) woollen lining, and just to make sure the jacket stays in optimum condition, they offer a competitive repair and re-proofing service. Advantages: tough and waterproof
Disadvantages: not very cool

...can buy the wax from barbour outlets and some equestrian shops - it costs about £5 for a tin which will last several years - be warned you do not need to put much wax on the jacket overwaxing will make it sticky. They are good for walking and riding and you can get them in different lengths including the one that goes down to your feet for the real outdoors in all weather person. a jacket for a lifetime

Advantages: A cosy warm jacket resillient to even the worst of the weather will keep you feeling warm and dry.
Disadvantages: Expensive to buy out right but will last yrs

The barbour jacket is a unisex jacket consisting of semi-dry oiled cotton , which helps to make it resilient to to the worst of the elements .
