The jacket is made from a Gore-Tex material. This is clever material that is manufactured under licence from WL Gore Ltd. The material is a high-tech ... ...the name stands for Interactive. Berghaus coats with this designation have a second zip included - this is designed to allow the user to attach a Berghaus IA fleece to the inside to produce a much warmer product for colder weather. I'm not that active myself, and so tend to just wear the fleece loose.
The jacket will fit over a suit and so I can use it for work. I didn't buy this for use specifically on the hills and mountains, but for general use ...
