My partner was already a member of David Lloyd in Basildon, and after looking at prices and offers available at the time; we upgraded his membership to 'Couple'. This costs us £92.00 a month, and gives us unlimited access to the Gym and Pool, although we are not able to take part in any of the racket sports. I have visited the David Lloyd club previously, as Christmas of last year, as a member, my partner received ... ...at the reception area of David Lloyd, we were kept waiting for 40 minutes for someone from Membership to be able to see us. During this time, no one came and gave us updates or even told us how long we may be waiting, and unlike other leisure centres I had visited just to look at the facilities, we wasn't even offered a drink. When someone finally did come to see us, no apologies were made for keeping us waiting and we were taken to a side table ...

Christina666 must be a very positive forward thinking person. I am a single male and pay £72 a month for that you get to watch the personal trainers chatting up the girls and showing off. The gym section is more crowded than any other DL I have visited 12 now. The equipment is laid out in straight lines with 10 inches between each bit of equipment. I have often seen people unable to use a bit of equipment correctly and the personal trainers just ... ...often crowded and very run down compared to other clubs in the chain. The pools are really cool late at night when the low level lights are on. The biggest down side to this club is the endless noise, the other clubs around the area are less like nightclubs, the noise when the cycle classes start are nothing short of a joke, impossible to hear your headphones.
I would avoid and use Southend dl, quiet, clean and the equipment is more creatively set ...
