Fitness or fashion

Advantages: The best facilities I have ever seen
Disadvantages: Expensive and elitist

...knackering ) day at the David Lloyd fitness centre in Milton Keynes and felt inspired to write about it. Although I am not a member, I have been using the facilities for a few years now obtaining day passes which grant you access to all facilities available. To write this opinion I have also gained the opinions of a few of my friends who are (or have been) members. If the Ciao website is to be believed, there are 40 of these clubs dotted around ...
...LOCATION •• The Milton Keynes David Lloyd Centre is situated about 5 minutes from junction 14 of the M1 in Livingstone Drive, opposite the children’s theme park Gulliver’s Land and near the very pretty Willen Lake. There is a large car park surrounding the centre, and you can even get your car valeted whilst you are visiting. •• PRICES •• Couples £225 joining fee (can be waived if you work for ...

Pricey and not worth it

Advantages: Latest equipment, long opening hours, when quiet easy to get on everything
Disadvantages: Too hot, too many kids, not really a proper gym, changing rooms not overally clean

...have been a member of David Lloyd for a number of years and have seen the price creep up without things actually improving. The gym equipment to be fair suited me. It was new and included treadclimbers which I was a regular user of when they were not 'awaiting repair' as they often were. The main bugbear is that once you have got through the turnstiles you have to wade through the glorified crèche. Lots of kids just running into you and blocking ...
...sip Costa coffee in blissful ignorance. With bottles of water costing £1.50 it would be better to drink the pool water. Then again, the outside pool is in worse condition than a lot of council pools. The air conditioning barely works in winter so you can imagine how uncomfortable it gets in summer. Interesting after they boast about how much they spent on the refurbishments! So rather than endure another year of it, I gave my 3 months notice in at ...

This gym is no longer a gym!!!

Advantages: More children, no equipment, more expensive food, less changing areas
Disadvantages: They'll probably still make loads of money - vote with your feet people!!!

...above cannot be current!! David Lloyd is turning into a cafeteria with few a pieces of gym equipment attached to it. They have no respect for members requirements, and after 3 months of training in a building site (as part of the appalingly managed "refurb") - I've now been told have to start paying more money for the priveledge. For my extra money I will get inferior gym equipment (cardio machines are replaced with technogym equipment that doesn't ...
...it COULD be so good but this gym is all about taking your hard earned cash. David Lloyds should rename the club McFitness or Tesco's Fitness Emporium. I'm bitterly dissapointed after being a member for nearly 3 years - avoid! avoid! avoid! Corporate rubbish! with one motive: cash!!!!. ...

David Lloyd Leisure - Milton Keynes

Advantages: Excellent facilities
Disadvantages: Cost of membership fees

...became a member of the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Milton Keynes following the recommendations of a number of friends and colleagues and I can say in my opinion that although the membership fees are higher compared to many other Health Clubs in the area, the facilities are second to none. With two heated pools (indoor and outdoor), two very well equipped gyms and a vast number of squash and tennis courts the equipment and service provided by the ...
