Advantages: Open till late, nice pool (when it is not busy) Disadvantages: getting v busy, lazy lifeguards, you have to been drowning before they do anything, getting crowded and un-kept
...have a payphone in Hendon Holmes place....
Moan moan moan, I know but I'm telling you how it really is. Plus my friend has a 2 yr old child who has to pay to be a member and also has to pay to use the creche. Everything seems to be extra payments here and there and it is expensive as it is. ...

Advantages: Good workout facilities Disadvantages: Very small pool area and too many kids
I am a member of Holmes Place in Cricklewood for nearly a year now and for my purpose it is the perfect club.
It is very important that you know how you intend to use the gym you are joining. Is it to workout at machines , workout classes or the pool? That is something you should be sure of.
First step in Cricklewood, like almost everywhere else, is that you can have a look at the various areas they have to offer you. Unfortunately there is mostly ... ...like I did, with another Holmes Place(or 2) anywhere in London,(mine is nearer to the place I work) which will cost you 5 pounds more each month. But you can use both clubs equally. No restrictions whatsoever. And you don´t need a second membership card. Once you joined they will take your picture and print it on your membership card with all your details. Fairly normal. In cricklewood however this machine is very often broken, so sometimes it can ...

Advantages: Clean, good instructors and classes Disadvantages: Too busy, not enough classes
...they are now called and Holmes place the one round the corner from me, where I sometimes am found in a sweaty almost concussed heap!
What are they like, well lets tell you.
First they are a bit posh, you get your own towel at reception, piped classical music in the changing room, soap and shampoo in the shower and hand cream, deodorant and gel in the bathroom. Sounds great, is great, except most of it is cheap rubbish, still better than nothing.
... ...here is the big but, Holmes Place have got greedy, it is too busy and the management do not care, oh no, all the time there are open weekends and offers to get new members, when classes are overflowing, the Jacuzzi jam packed and the steam room cold from everybody coming in and out opening the door. Oh yes it gets less and less relaxing each week. Ok, we know you cannot expect the club to yourself, but you pay a premium rate to use the place and ...

Holmes Place are now quite a large health/fitness club chain and I have been a member at the Cricklewood branch now for 6 months.
Most of all the club is very clean and tidy and all the equipment is well maintained, it has two swimming pools, a large spa pool, three Gyms and a aerobics room, plus both male and female saunas, steam rooms and sun bed sections. There is a Creche for Children, a cafe, a hairdressers/beauty salon and a nice comfy airy ... ...So that is the upside, what does it cost. Well, £50 - £200 to join depending on whether there are any offers and £50 -£70 per month again dependent on offers. That is quite pricey so is it worth it. Well it costs about £3 - £4 for a swim in a dirty pool in London, so you do the Maths I use the facilities 4 times a week so I get great value. There are also lots of good classes aimed at all levels of fitness.
This is a good club, slightly procey but ...

Advantages: Open late Disadvantages: Dirty changing room, crowded, equipment and facilities not always working
...Got fed up with Cricklewood Holmes Place after three and a half years of membership (roughly £2500's worth) and decided to cancel subscription. I really only used the place for the pool which was often crowded, or the lanes were restricted due to classes. Plus the men's changing room floor was often dirty, shower heads missing, shower gel bottles empty. Phoned to cancel and was told I had to confirm in writing giving 30 days notice. As I was fed ...
