Last week I walked the 80 mile Great Glen Way across Scotland from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east. The walk is mainly flat although I\'d say about 25% of it is up and down some fairly big hills. I had never used walking poles before last week and seeing as I had not walked a long distance walk for nearly 10 years I thought I would give these particular pair a go, given they had such a good review from Miskah.

Quick review of Leki Super Makalu Cortec Pole Review ofLeki Super Makalu Cortec Poleby

I hillwalk in Scotland regularly, most weekends and holidays and use walking poles. I would not be without them especially on steep downhill paths and tracks. I am going to Austria on a walking holiday in a couple of weeks. I want to take my poles but how do I pack them? Do I carry them separately or put them in with my luggage?
Have never been walking abroad before so would welcome any help/advice from members.
