Bright, light and robust

Advantages: Light and strong
Disadvantages: not cheap

...camping is one from the MagLite range of torches the model being the MagLite 2-C Cell Flashlight, I chose this because it is not too big and heavy (that is counter productive when space and weight are at a premium), also for me I want a torch that can give out a good light (this used to be very important when making my way back to the tent after a couple of beers in the nearest pub). Review of MagLite 2-C Cell Flashlight by alimason

Advantages: robust, strong, metal
Disadvantages: heavy, big, bulbs need replacing

I was given this torch last year and i must admit that it has come in very useful. It is very bright, more so than my pretzl tikka headtorch, but not as bright as a gas powered lantern. I think the size of this torch (27cm long and nearly half a kilogram in weight) means that it is rather cumbersome to carry on a hiking trip and although some headtorches are less bright they are much lighter, smaller and as an extra attraction they can be fitted to ...
