I have been wearing Mountain Horse boots for years now including the ever popular 'Cheetah' boot. I have always ridden in a pair of long leather boots and normally the zips have either gone on them or the stitching which is quite frankly damn annoying! Advantages: comfortable and good to ride in
Disadvantages: zip broke so not very durable

I have a pair of these boot and there are many positives about them but one big negative. Positives 1. Very comfortable from the start no rubbing at all 2. Look smart 3. Easy to put on as have zip 4. Plenty of room for wooly socky and enough room for wearing with jeans 5. Reasonable price for leather boots 6. Comfortable for riding and yard work 7. I think the boots are great from a comfort , warmth, breathability and ease of access position. The one problem I have come across having owned a pair for four years is that the zips broke after two years and after replacement by a local saddler broke again this year. At £50 - £70 per replacement they are becoming expensive to run. I wear them for approx 9 months of the year in the region of 5 days per week for approx 1-2 hours each time which I do not think is excessive.

Disadvantages: BSJA have banned their use

Mountain horse have issued a statement to say that it is perfectly safe for everyday wear and "light" competition use but have not issued a product re-call etc so one would assume that this is the case. The majority of people are less bothered about the boot itself being potentially dangerous, they are indeed disgruntled that they can no longer wear their new competition boots for competing in. I purchased my boots back in 2001 and have never looked back. They are comfortable, most important when you spend several hours a day in the saddle. They have lasted so far without looking like I have had them for 4 years. The price is great for the durability and practicality elements and they are so easy to maintain.
