Advantages: Goes FAR further than the average golf ball Disadvantages: Can only be used successfully by the top players
...~ ~ The Titleist Pro V1x is the successor to the Titleist Pro V1, which Titleist launched back in 1996.
Before the mid-1990’s, the golf ball of choice of the vast majority of professional and top amateur golfers was a ball manufactured from soft balata rubber. This was because the softer balata ball with its wound rubber core allowed the top players to impart more spin, and thus to land it more softly on the putting surface. But this extra ... ...this has now changed since Titleist launched the new Pro V1x.
So why exactly is it that so many of the top players are now changing to this new ball from Titleist?
The answer to that question is very simple and straightforward. The Pro V1x simply goes miles further than any other ball currently being produced.
In recent tournaments Ernie Els, the South African professional and current holder of the British Open title has routinely been hitting ...

Advantages: Great name in golf balls Disadvantages: Not really for high handicappers
...I tried a titleist Pro V1X today in a Stableford tourney off white tees so I had a little extra yardage to play, I mostly use Titleist PTS Solo because they are designed for mid to high handicappers, and I can hit them, so they work for me. Titleist have brought out this new breed of ball, and as i said I don't know the science so i'm not going to say there is this and there is that, etc. All i know is that these balls are designed to cut out spin, ... ...that. To me the new titleist ball felt like a Pro V1, and i try not to use those either because they are too soft for me and don't travel like the Solo PTS. I felt the Pro V1 X wasn't the ball for a high handicapper who is happy busting 90 gross each week, I would imagine the ball is really for a low to scratch handicapper who knows all the fundimental rules of hitting a ball, and getting it into the dustbin lid zone on the green. I think the price ...

...well as most. Titleist describes its characteristics as: Longer Tee to Green.
Straight consistant Ball flight.
Drop and Stop Technology.
Soft High speed Performance feel.
Shear and Abrasion Resistant Cover.
With none of this can I argue, but for someone who wants to know how this will affect there game, what does it mean?
Longer Tee to Green - I found that I was hitting my irons much further. This meant I could pick a shorter, easier to control ... ...in it's play. If the Titleist weren't available I'd probably use this.
Other competitors of merit are the Callaway Hex (the new Black version of this is supposed to be very special). The Wilson True is another ball aiming at lower handicap golfers, i found this ball to be very good on around the green but a little weak off the tee and the fairway.
Summary - The Pro V1 has got a hefty price tag (over £3 per ball), but in my view it is worth every ...

Advantages: The Best Ball Out There Disadvantages: Price
Titleist launched the Pro V1x a few years ago amongst much hype, so much so that initially they were very hard to get hold of, that is not the case nowadays as they can be easily purchased at any local Pro Shop or major golfing outlet.
Not long after came the Pro V1x a ball that spun a little less and was meant to go that little bit further again. For a few seasons I used the Pro V1x but have only just got round to writing the review (for the record ... ...The like, all the top performing golf balls (including the Maxfli Revolution which I have just reviewed), is a three piece construction with a solid core, a softer outer layer and a thin, soft shell. This type of construction has replaced the more traditional balata ball construction as it outperform in terms of distance, spin and durability, the latter of which is most important to me as I don't want one thin to result in the ball being ruined, ...

...playing with the new improved Titleist Pro V1. This is the number 1 golf ball in the PGA tour, and the fact that Tiger does not play with it, doesn`t mean is not good!! As a matter of fact 8 out of the top 10 players last year on the PGA tour played with this ball and most of them will not switch to another ball even if the offer them a juicy contract...why?..simply becuase they know that this is THE BEST GOLF THERE IS. This New Improved Pro V1 , ... ...back as much as the first Pro v1), higher durability (this is impressive you can play 18, 36, 45 holes with the same ball and if you are a decent player the ball might even continue being "useable") and with all the new technology available. Advantages: Pro use, Feel, Spin rates Disadvantages: Durability, cost.
...It was simply marketed because titleist saw the opportunity, through huge pro popularity, to get it onto our courses, thus making them a ton in the process. The advantages of this ball, might be proved in the pro game but to be honest, and as this is from my own point and personal experiences myself and the people that I play with have seen little to no benefit to our games in comparison to other balls that we can get hold of, at a considerably cheaper ... ...to be thought about if titleist are to succeed with the marketing of this golf ball. When we hit this with the driver it felt soft and like penfold or soft strata, not the confidence instilling hard ourer that we were promised. The rrp of these balls are around the £35 mark, they have actually become more durable due to advanacements in the materials they are made out of and this has helped make them last almost a ball a round in my case. The distance ...

...and always play with a Titleist ball. It's something of a habit, but the ball suits my game. In cold wet conditions I'll play with the pts wound ball, and in dry summer conditions the professional balata. That was until I tried the newest product from Titleist, the pro V1.
It is the tour professionals choice of ball combining both distance and feel.It is longer off the tee than the balata ball but gets enormous spin around the green.
I'm not sure ... ...the extra length I got off the tee and the control and spin I got around the green. Putting with it is a dream, the ball doesn't fly off the putter like the wound ball.
At the moment the cost of the ball will put off all but the most accomplished golfer, at £35 a dozen you don't really want to 'lose' a ball during a round. However if you are a single figure handicapper, then this is really an excellent ball. ...

Everyone knows that this is the ball that is used by a majority of players on Tour both Europe and The US. Infact this is the ball used by most players accross the world. The ball is designed for players of all levels and all standard. The ball is covered in a soft Urethane Elastomers which gives greater feel for the player and has greater shock absorbing capacity. It is extreamly long off the tee which is fast becoming one of the most improtant ... ...by having a new 332 dimple design of differnt sizes to minimize drag through the air and create the optimon spin levels. With softer core materials used whilst still keeping its 'weight' it reduces the spin levels off the face of a driver.
As for the Price it is one of the most expensive balls on the market retailing aroung £40 per coz, although you can find them for less. This is downfall of the Pro V1 but the performance levels are significanly ...

Advantages: Distance Disadvantages: They can be expensive, and wear out when using deep grooved wedges
The best golf ball on the market. I used to use the Pro V1 because thats what everyone used, but i wasn't completely happy when hitting into the wind, becasue i hit the ball with a high swing speed it just went up in the air instead of forward.
Once changin to the Pro V1x I hit it further and straighter, without losing any control around the greens. The ball putts extremely well too, it makes a nice solid sound of the putter face, helping with distance ... ...for golfers who swing the club faster than 85mph. If you don't know your swing speed, visit you local golf professional and he/she can tell you this using a launch monitor.
Normall RRP is £11 a sleeve, most shops will sell around the £10 mark per sleeve or about £36 a dozen. The lowest I have seen is £30 a dozen, but can be found cheaper on ebay. ...

Advantages: Distance and spin are exceptional! Disadvantages: a little bit pricey to lose!
...I used to use the Titleist Pro V1 before switching to this as it was awesome around the greens but i moved to the ProV1X because it is slightly harder, thus reducing the amount of spin on the ball and giving me around 10 yards more distance and by keeping my ball around 5 yards straighter. I hit the ball pretty hard and I think this is one of the reasons why the ProV1X suits my game. I also have a pretty tidy short game and I find that harder balls ... ...the amount of check spin I get with these.
Even though it is aimed at the more advanced level the only reason I suggest it for the low hanicapper is because of its price which at £30+ a dozen becomes expensive to lose and only serious golfers or rich golfers can afford to lose that much every month! I mainly only use them for competitions so that I dont lose any when I am knocking the ball around in my friendly fourball! Although I recommend that ...

Advantages: Best combination of spin, distance and feel. Disadvantages: Price, softer shell may may weather sooner than harder golf balls.
I personally would highly reccomend the ball to better standard of golfers who enjoy the playability arond the greens, yet still require extra distance off the the tee combined with the softer feel in comparison to other distance balls. The ball is also renowned for its 'drop and stop' controll. However, to any average to lower standard player, I would advise to play a cheaper, harder ball with more durability as shot making isn't to much of an issue ...

These golf balls are probably the most famous golf balls used today. And i have to say they are very good golf balls. For the categories of price and durability both are low.For price these are top of the line golf balls and because of that are very expensive, as for durability these are actually not that durable even though they are very expensive, and this is because they are soft balls which will help you work magic around the green and be able ... ...ball is defiantly designed for the more experienced golfer and is second best to its older brother the original Pro V1.If your a prety good golfer and know what to expect form a golf ball when used you will see that this is top of the line but with a heavy price tag (if this ball goes into the woods you better start looking, because that's about a 3 dollar golf ball you just). ...
