Advantages: Lightweight, Good componentry, Reliable
Disadvantages: A little front-heavy

The Trek 6000 is part of Trek's year 2000 range, and as such is still selling in the shops now, often at a knockdown price. I managed to find mine in a sale close to the end of 2000 at £500, dropped from £625. Advantages: good for off-roading
Disadvantages: no rear suspention

you get an Aluminium hardtail frame, In-Sync forks, Dia Compe brakes, a chainset which is half LX half LX Deore and a hell of a lot of other components for various other things. The frame which is an aluminium hardtail (with no suspension) is nice and light and is forgiving enough to take some of the sting out of the trail. ...caught my eye was the Trek 6000, I knew that it was a year old model but that wouldn't bother me. The first thing I done to the bike was pick it up and I was amazed with how light it was. Then I checked out the spec, the rear derailleur is a Shimano Deore LX and was adequate for what I wanted. With the bike being a hard tail it only had front sus, it was an "In Sync 453", and it has four inches and is adjustable. The rims are "Vuelta double rimed". ... Read review
