Rock Shox seem to have the budget corner of the fork market well and truly cornered and this latest tora is no exception. Other manufacturers budget forks are cheap, heavy, flexy and not very pleasant to ride on but the tora blows away all these expectations. It comes in at a sensible (but no lightweight) weight, but makes up for this with excellent lateral stiffness. The travel is extremely plush for a fork in this price range and absorbs both small trail bumps as well as large drops with ease. This particular U Turn model allows adjustable travel and the fork features both V brake mounts as well as an IS disk mount. Rock Shox are known for their reliability and with regular servicing this fork should last a very long time. Simply brilliant for the money ...

Review of Rock Shox Tora 302 U-Turn 2008

Totem arro floorstanding speakers

Advantages: Big sound from a small floorstander
Disadvantages: none yet

And so the time arrived for me to upgrade my Mission 707 loudspeakers. I booked in for a demo at my local hi fi shop in leicester( leicester hi-fi). armed with a mixture of cd's and off we went. The system i listened to in the shop was the exact setup i had at home (Cyrus) so it was a true test, Jim who owns the shop was doing the demo and he had asked when i made the appointment how much i wanted to spend, i said about £1000 so he had a rough idea of what to show me. I listened to several speakers From £500- £1400 just to get a jist of what i was getting for money and what was out there to make me part with my money. I won't go into detail as to all the other speakers, there were some good some not so good but nothing that blew me away, which is what i was looking for for a £1000, the last pair he brought out was a pair of Totem ...

Advantages: i did ok
Disadvantages: some stresses and strains

1) What did you do in 2008 that you have not done before? I taught English to a class of Germans over the summer. I was terrified when asked to do it but absolutely loved it and was a brilliant experience. 2) Did anyone close to you give birth? Not that I can think of although almost I have 7 friends who are currently pregnant and expecting their babies very soon! 3) Did anyone close to you die? No one particularly close to, but someone that I admired very much. A local man who was well known for his dedication to the local carnival and his yearly appearances as father Christmas at various occasions. I had know him since I was little and he was short, a little overweight with a white beard.
