Rock Shox seem to have the budget corner of the fork market well and truly cornered and this latest tora is no exception. Other manufacturers budget forks are cheap, heavy, flexy and not very pleasant to ride on but the tora blows away all these expectations. It comes in at a sensible (but no lightweight) weight, but makes up for this with excellent lateral stiffness. The travel is extremely plush for a fork in this price range and absorbs both small trail bumps as well as large drops with ease. This particular U Turn model allows adjustable travel and the fork features both V brake mounts as well as an IS disk mount. Mirena Coil

Advantages: No periods. No pregnancy
Disadvantages: Spotting. No protection against STD

Last year I decided to change my contraception. I had been using Microgynon pills but as I am getting older (44), over weight and have a family history of heart problems it was time to change. I work for my doctors surgery so I discussed it with one of the lady gp's first. She recommended Mirena coil. There was no way she would recommend sterilisation as that can cause increased bleeding, not something I wanted. She also told me to take some paracetamols about an hour before having the coil fitted so the pain relief was already in my system. As I said I work for my doctors surgery and only the male doctors do coil fittings so that was a no no! I went instead to the local Family Planning Clinic. Disadvantages: everything

I had the mirena coil fitted about eight months ago and was told that the failure rate was so low, 1 in 2,000, that i would not get pregnant. So life carried on as normal until one day i felt very strange and decided to do a pregnancy test, which had the faintest line on it. I went to the doctors and she did one and blood tests, there was no line on hers and so i left thinking that my worst nightmare was over. I had only got across the road from the doctors when she shouted me back, telling me that a line had appeared. I was sent up to the hospital for a scan, but it so soon that they couldn't see anything so they took some blood and arranged another appointment for a second scan.
