Advantages Durable vurtualy unbreakable

Disadvantages Doesnt look stunning

I'm not sure how this review will fair so please bare with me and feedback any comments, as the object of my review isn't very technical and indeed very complicated.

I have a Carrera banshee full suspension mountain bike which didn't have any mudguards but can take allot of tough bashing and punishment, but I always ended up with mud splatting me in the chin and eyes and eating it as it spun of the wheel.

I also left loads in the bath after it had dried on my chest and chin after coming up from the tyre and drying down my shirt, top and safety gear.

So I thought it was time to try a mudguard on the front at least, but it had to be tough and durable for what we put the bikes through and also quick release to allow suspension adjustments or replacement.

On investigating I found the SKS shock board seem the best moist used and highly recommended, on receipt from Amazon through the post and looking at it you are able to double this back on itself so it is durable and tough.

A good thing is if you crash to which I have done many times it bends and doesn't mark your frame when your handle bars spin, making it safe if you found yourself hitting it in an accident.

So I fitted it to my MTB and found it was quick release which most things are on my bike but essential if you want quick fixes on the side of a mountain, also it was quite simple and you can feel there is no inkling it may break while fitting.

I bought one to fit a 26" wheel size and the quick release is hidden once you have attached the ties and clips and retaining bolt.

The shock board weighs 115 gms so not to heavy as to be noticed when steering and not to light to be rattled in the wind like some I have seen vibrate loose or move in motion.

When using my bike with the shock board on I find myself incredibly cleaner then before I had it, it is remarkable the time it saves you on cleaning up so in itself I don't end up getting mud everywhere like in my car or on my clothes yes I still get splattered but not to the rate I used to.

So to anyone who goes MTB biking where there is mud I would seriously consider buying one of these, yes it doesn't look much and is made of bland dual zone tough plastic and maybe doesn't add to the look of your bike but it is a functional piece of kit which from my experience now is a must and my missus likes it when i return with clear clothes.
