Advantages: Great acceleration, Slick gear change Disadvantages: Lowish top speed due to gear ratios, supplied brake blocks are poor
...front suspension on dirt tracks, it will handle them too, although you may feel a bit sore in the arms the next morning. However in it's favour on the dirt tracks, I got a lot of feedback through the rigid frame and was able to cope with sections that riders with front suspension bikes found difficult.
Although it is only a small niggle, the braking is only average with standard cantilever brakes. It is easy to fix that though, by going to your local bike shop and buy a set of decent brake blocks. You should be able to get a set thrown in free when you buy the bike if you are good at haggling though.
A perfect first step up the ladder to the +£500 big shot bikes.

...One word describes this bike ... AWESOME !
O.k so this bike isn't going to be in everyones price range as at approx £1,000 it isn't cheap & could be classed as a luxury .
But as the saying goes ... "You get what you pay for!"
It had been a long , long time since i had ridden a racing bike , I had had the odd mountain bike in y 20's & early 30's , But they didn't really suit my style of riding.
I spent a long long time researching what bike I would buy as I didn't have money to burn & I wanted to get it right & not regret my purchase for years to come.
After perusing various brands I finally settled on the Specialized , It wasn't the cheapest of the bikes , but then it wasn't the most expensive.
