Salomon X-Free 8

Advantages: Good looks, great price, great overall performance.
Disadvantages: Only available in one size (8.5 UK).

...Last year (2000) Salomon announced the release of two new skates, the ST90 and the ST80. For some reason Salomon decided to scrap production of the ST80 and released the ST70 (a cheaper model) instead. Last summer Salomon decided to sell off all of there sample models of the ST80 so now these samples are available. Since these are sample skates they were only ever made in one size (uk 8.5) so if this size is too large or too small for you then forget about buying these skates as riding wrongly sized skates can be detrimental to the health of your feet. Out of the box these skates look amazing. The cool blue-grey colour used for the boot is definitely the most aesthetically pleasing of on any of the recent Salomon skates. Advantages: Ease of turning, handling, style, following.

...I go to Sandown ski club ever week, and I always try to get the Salomon X-Screams. They are incredibly easy to turn, have a nice carving action, and are probably one of the best skis around. They have a huge free-ride following, and are used by beginners and experts alike. They are the skis by which all others are judged. The newer X-screams have the Prolink arms 'to guarantee ski/snow contact'. Wether it actually works is another matter... but it sounds and looks cool! So basically, these skis will suit anyone, especially those who are looking to improve their turning and confidence, and want to learn how to carve easily. Excellent skis!... Read review

...more flex in the tips and tails for cleaner take-offs and landings, and their lighter weight makes for higher jumps and easy manoeuvre in the air. but it does not stop there, these are a true all-mountain ski. They will handle both ice and powder like it was a walk in the park. The sidecut of 108-75-100 (tip/waist/tail) gives a build only a little short of the X-Scream. I was abroad just before Christmas racing on a pair of 1080s and the sidecut was more than adequate. In fact, there were several people out there racing in them. These skis are generally shorter than most people are used to. Their sizes are 161, 169 or 177cm. I am about 5" 8' and I take the 161cm ones because I like to have them a little bit shorter for doing tricks. The number of people you will see on the slopes with these skis will shock you.
