Advantages: Well acted, well written, excellent story and scenenry Disadvantages: May appeal more to women than men
The guys will probably say this is a girlie movie, but it is so much more than that. It is a collision of two love stories, one from the past and the other, unfolding as we watch. It is poignant, and incredibly well acted. Kevin Costner stars as a widowed boatwright, while Robin Wright Penn is a divorcée with a young son, who works for a big city newspaper. Throw in Robbie Coltrane as her boss, and Paul Newman as the boat-builder's father, and you see the beginnings of an excellent cast.
There are some wonderful scenes in this, views of an oceanside community and all the vistas that can evoke, plus a big city train ride which was an experience for Costner's character.
