A Rolls Royce of a drysuit
Advantages: Quality, telescoping trunk, rock boots Disadvantages: Price
...to others that were popular. DUI (as the title states) is a pedant's suit. The design has dialled out a number of irritating faults with other suits and made an interesting and, to my mind, effective remedy. I'll show you for why:
THE FRONT-ZIP
Most drysuits I had seen were rear entry, with the main zip running laterally across the diver's shoulders. This means the diver clambers into the suit, pus the arms into the sleeves, the seal over the head ... ...of most drysuit legs. What DUI has done is replace these with soft neoprene socks, making the drysuit more comfy on the feet and ankles. Rock-boots (or old-style canvas basketball boots) go over the top of the neoprene socks and hey presto! you have a waterproof (and comfy) pair of feet. The added advantage to the rock boot system is that ankle weights worn by some divers tend to slip less with these. Also, air migration, which can force off a welly ...

Advantages: cheap price, good seals and zipper, heavy duty boots Disadvantages: wears quite quickly,
Typhoon nexus drysuit
I bought my Typhoon nexus drysuit 6 years ago from new, and so far have used it on around110 dives in the UK in a wide variety of conditions from fresh water lakes in winter to off shore boat dives in the summer.
It comes in at the entry level price range for a membrain suit made from nylon trilaminate it is not that hard wearing compared to the more expensive suits and it will start to wear on the high friction parts such ... ...fixed with a 2 pac adhesive such as Aquabond by Beaver.
The suit is rear entry via a large zip across the shoulders and must say that it has never proved to be a problem in fact it runs more easily then my other more expensive drysuits. It has a dump valve at the wrist which is simply raised above your head to expell unwanted air. The wrist and neck seals are heavy duty and mine lasted well into the second year before they needed changing approximatley ...

Keeping Dry
Advantages: Good waterprrof suit Disadvantages: None
...was a "last years stock" Musto Yachting drysuit. As you can guess, as it was last years stock - the new ones were coming in soon, and the price had been dropped in expectation of recieving new stock. It turned out to be a good buy.
I've had it for over 3 years, and having looked after it well, it is still waterproof. A good buy overall. ...

Excellent
Advantages: Great all round membrane suit Disadvantages: Takes a couple of weeks to get one made
I’ve had an Otter Tech Superskin for two and a half years and have done 125 dives in it now, I bought it solely on recommendations from the internet. The suit was made to measure and cost me 560 ukp, and that included a thinsulate undersuit. It has internal braces, apex inflation and autodump valves, “welly” style boots and a double zip. It came with heavy duty seals, the cuff seals are just starting to show a bit of wear now, the neck seal has been ... ...The suit is an excellent fit and I can quite comfortably wear it for several hours at a time, the material is very strong and bouncing off wrecks has done no damage to it.
I can’t say enough about this suit, after diving with an 8mm neoprene suit previously, it excels. ...

The Stealth of Atticusuk
Advantages: Warm and comfortable Disadvantages: Not easy to get on
...able to slip into my Pinnacle Stealth semi dry suit, when I say slip what I actually mean is to squeeze, curse and contort my body into said suit as the only main criticism I have of this suit is that it is not the easiest to get into. Not that I can really complain as it did not cost me anything to buy as I was given it by a friend who had stopped diving and could not get anyone to buy it from him.
First off for those non divers let me explain ... ...over so how does the Pinnacle Stealth perform. This is a 7mm one piece semi dry with a woven Merino wool material on the inside which provides excellent insulation and is very comfortable next to the skin. As I said before this is not the easiest suit to get into, neither is it that easy to get out of and you definitely need the help of your dive buddy especially when getting out of it. The reason it is so awkward is that entry is through the neck ...
