Wild Wives in Wide Sargasso Sea

Advantages: atmospheric, fullydevelops Mr Rochester's mad Wife
Disadvantages: Difficult to read in parts,

?s existing characters. I feel there is an issue with prequels and sequels to classic books written by other authors. I have read some pretty dire ones including the sequel to Gone with the Wind. In my opinion classic characters should be left well alone and not tampered with at all. However I was pleasantly surprised with Wide Sargasso Sea. And it?s stretching a point to include the sky, which can equally be seen above land as above sea. So, essentially, we?re talking about water. Water, it might be argued, is not entirely monotonous to look at. The sea has moods, which it expresses in the colour of its complexion. Sometimes, it can be a tranquil turquoise, sometimes an inscrutable indigo, sometimes a grudging greeny-grey. Occasionally, it rears ...
