Well I have three of these on my bikes so I obviously fall into the catogory of someone whose shape suits this saddle. This is definitely a saddle for racing bikes either on road or off. There are compromises in the design:-

Could be lighter
Could be more comfy
Could be cheaper

It isn't but it is very good at what it does. The best way to look at the compromises is to compare the Flite to other saddles that are lighter/more comfy/cheaper. Any lighter and the saddles start to become either prohibitivly more expensive or like a razer blade to sit on or both of these. More comfy like a Rolls for instance and the weight penalty will be 2 or 3 times the Flites weight. The cost for a performance racing part (with titanium seat rails) is more than acceptable, cheaper definitly means heavier in this case.

The titanium rails of course will last forever without corroding or discolouring, the leather cover being exposed to weather will eventually wear after years of hard use. I tend to keep my kit for much longer than most people and currently have a Flite that has done 13 years service on a mountain bike but has only just started to show wear right on the nose. A friend has had his recovered by a friendly upholsterer for about £10. If you do this get it done before the padding underneth the leather has started to wear because it can't be repaired and will end up very uncomfortable. His nearly lasted a decade by the way.

Obviously try before you buy. Best way is to nick a friends saddle and see if you can get used to it for a couple of days.

One last thing:-

Be ready to fend off "but doesn't sitting on that hurt?" comments from your none cycling chums!
