Shimano SPD M072 Cycle Shoe to infinity and beyond

Advantages: Strong, well made, functional
Disadvantages: Nothing yet.

SPD INTRO Shimano M072 shoes are SPD cycling shoes so here's a quick explanation of what SPD is. For those who may not know SPD stands for Shimano Pedaling Dynamic. All very nice I hear you say, so to explain they are Clipless pedals. Basically you get a pair of shoes, bolt on some clips to the shoes, get a pair of SPD pedals which are like a clamp, step on the pedals and your feet are locked to the pedals. Rotating your feet to the side then releases you from the pedal. (not as dangerous as it sounds). GENERAL Shimano mountain bike shoes have been around for a number of years now and in my opinion if you are a user of SPD pedals then you can't beat Shimano PSD shoes for reliability. Review of Shimano MO72

An excellent and versatile budget SPD shoe!!

Advantages: Comfortable, Supportive, Great looks, Bargain price, Good Grips
Disadvantages: Cold in winter, Not waterproof, Shimano sizing system

I recently purchased a pair of Shimano M072 shoes for use with a pair of Shimano M520 SPD pedals. I managed to pick up the shoes for around £20.00 new which for that price I would say is a total bargain!! The Shimano M072 SPD shoes have Mountain Bike style recessed cleats which make the shoes a lot easier to walk around in than the road style cleats, and pretty good rubber grips on the bottom which stop you sliding around in mud. I am actually using the shoes with my road bike at the moment but would recommend them for both road and mountain bike users! There are a couple of points I have picked up on though which would be worth noting. Shimano have a quite a strange sizing system. I am a size 8 normally which in European sizes is a 42. The Shimano shoes are sized using European sizes, however it is worth buying the size above what ...

Review of Shimano M072 Shoes

Great for the plates of meat

Advantages: Stylish, durable, comes with cleats for clipping in, you can actually walk in them off the bike
Disadvantages: You won't be accepted by 'roadies' in them, can't fit waterproof over shoes over them

are manufactured by Shimano, which is a highly respected brand in the cycling world. It is a shame that they are too big to allow a pair of overshoes to be used, but then this is the case with all MTB shoes. Besides, I am not overly fond of cycling when it is minus whatever outside and prefer to use an exercise bike in the warmth of a gym. (Originally posted on Dooyoo under the name of Yackers1) ...
