...I bought these brake pads two weeks ago. So far they have lasted and they work quite well. USES ***** I would suggest these type of pads for light use, as I do some serious mountain biking they weren’t really up to the job, of speeding down a hill at some very high speeds on a bike. Wear ***** I had a look at them yesterday and they haven’t worn much at all so I would say, they are quite good on the durability side of things. Where I’d use them *************** I’d use them for light mountain biking or if your just cycling around there perfect. There a bargain price, and have a good grip, They are quite god quality and last quite a while, so I would definitely recommend them to any cycle enthusiast.... Read review

...If you are considering purchasing a new bike and are not sure which to choose I can recommend the C.B. Urban 300.It is a cross between a road bike and a mountain bike. Having an aluminium frame it is light and easy to ride (Make sure you get the correct size frame) The Shimano gears I have found to be excellent,the brakes are very good to. I chose this particular model over the Urban 100 & 200 due to the better specification of parts and the front suspension which enhances both comfort on road and offroad. Advantages: Stops your bike. Easy to setup.
Disadvantages: Takes a while to bed in. Supplied pads rubbish.

...Oooh... brakes these days. Rim or Disc? Cable or Hydralic? The way things are going, you'd swear that disc brakes were the be all and end all of brakes these days, but you'd be wrong, as Shimano will be eager to prove. Shimano have been doing V-brakes for quite a while now, and the LX really demonstrates that. Whilst I was sorely tempted by a disc brake, I can't really see what all the fuss is about. Yes, if you're into hurtling down hills on your 55lb monster downhill bike then discs are for you, if you're a cross country rider trying to shave a bit off the weight then vees are still you best bet. The brake is the cheapest in the Shimano range to offer the parallelogram design, which keeps the brake pads parallel to the braking surface, resulting in longer pad life and better braking performance.
