I had been using a smartparts shocker for about 3 months before i got a planet eclpise ego. I have had alot of experience with paintball markers (guns) and this one has been one of my favourites! I have used many guns:

tippmanns (98 custom, a5)
smartparts guns (ion, impulse, shocker)
wdp angels (speed)
autocockers (e2 eblade)
planet eclipse (ego)

This gun is reliable and i have had no any problems within the 3 month period of its use. Having said that they do have some flaws in the making 1 out of 30 shockers will have slightly weaker parts than the others which can be corrected with the year guarantee thats normally provided depending on where you buy it (i would reccomend going to an actual paintball store instead of ordering online that way if you get a problem you can take it back and they will fix it (normally for free or for a small fee of up to £20)).

THE ADVANTAGES:

Speed:
This marker's strongpoint is speed it can shoot about 27bps (with the right tweaking) and if you hopper can keep up (a hopper is what you store your paint in and it feeds the paintballs into the marker's chamber) i use a halo b (hopper) with a v35 board, this hopper is electronic and will kepp up with nearly everything due to its fast feed rate (up to 35 bps feed rate). The trigger adds to its speed being fully adjustable!! You could make it however you want it; short or long a mouse click or a large pull, the changes are endless.

Accuracy:
This marker will shoot where you want the paint to go, it is very accurate and with all that speed combined with the accuracy you will have accurate streams of paint flying down that field making the enemy tremble!! I would recomend using a smartparts freak barrel to have maximum accuracy!

Noise:
The noise it produces is simliar to the average tournament level marker. I can tell you that this marker is a dream to listen to being ramped off (fired extremely fast adding extra speed whatever your fingers can do. So if you could only do about 10 trigger pulls per second the gun could fire 20 depending on the settings of the circuit board which controlls the bolt that fires the paintball. I can do about 14 trigger pulls per second so i dont tend to use ramping which allows you to fire faster than normal not relying in your fingers). All i can say is this gun has a very nice sound when shot and is not over loud.

Size:
Quite small considering a tippman is twice the size nearly. Quite light and is compact! A nice marker to have held in your hand!!

Air effiency:
The air consumption is average it can be tweaked so it is very air efficient but at a price of around £100-200 (this will include buying a new regulator and getting a max-flo system) These items can be found on the official smartparts website or in other decent paintball stores (online). On average i managed to get around 1300 shots (shocker as stock) out of a 1.1litre 5000psi bottle.

Maintanence:
Very simple!! Follow instructions and you will be fine! There are a bunch of orings around the 2 bolts which need to be kept lubricated and then you are sorted! It is a very simple gun to maintain!!! If you get an air leak some where form the gun it will probably be an oring that needs replacing (orings cost virtualy nothing about £0.50 for 100). I have not had many paintball breaks so thats a good sign it is gentle on breaks! (i had shot thousands of paintballs through it when i used to have one)

THE DISADVANTAGES:

None apart from manufacturing which i mentioned, and the fact that this marker is not as sexy as my planet eclipse ego!!

CONCLUSION:

I would definately recomend the shocker to potential buyers!! Great gun! people will envy you when you turn up to tournaments and walkons (or whatever you do). What else could you want this gun has everything; accuracy, doesnt chop paint!, speed, sexyness(not a real word)!!!

This is a highly recomended electro marker!!!!!

Very helpful review. I've been paintballing a couple times and really enjoyed it, i just wished the paintballs weren't so expensive.

You should never remove your mask!!!!!!!!!!!!! when playing. I get hit all the time in the head (it hurts)

HotMonkey 20.02.2006 11:45

Wow, I used to do paintballing but gone off it abit as I got badly hit in the head on time as I took off my helmet to scratch it. I thought I was safe but my mate on the opposite team came up behind me and shot me in the head.
