Super Sigma

Advantages: Image quality. Consistent aperture. Internal zoom/focusing. Build. Great with converter.
Disadvantages: Needs a large (tall?) outfit bag. Quite heavy. Quite large.

obtained, it IS down either to technique or external circumstances - NOT the lens itself. The lens is really a pleasure to use. With both internal focusing and zooming, it doesn't extend at all with either function. Nor does the front of the lens turn, so using polarisers is easy. A great advantage when this lens is attached to a tripod via it's rotating collar is that it is extremely easy and convenient to rotate the both camera and lens through horizontal to verticle positions (or anywhere inbetween) with complete accuracy and security. Optical performance is impeccable. Unusually for long lenses, particulary zooms, it produces superb results even at it's longest focal-length setting. At f/4, image quality is already EXCELLENT in the centre and the edges are just a little behind at VERY GOOD. These improve to VERY GOOD+ at f/5 ...

Get Converted! Sigma EX 1.4x APO Converter

Advantages: Hugely versatile. Compact. Light. Inexpensive. High quality.
Disadvantages: None!

indispensable, always with me whatever kit I am using on any given day, full-frame or aps-c dslr. It is not suitable for use with lenses of shorter focal length than 50mm and in any case, this would be pointless. It is also not suitable for use with all lenses being incompatible with some. You need to check Sigma's website for compatibility and also, your own particular camera manufacturer's website to ascertain just which lenses are suitable for use with converters/extenders. Whilst this converter can be useful for lenses of between 50mm to 100mm, unless these are fast lenses (large maximum aperture), some of the benefit will be lost. 50mm lenses should have a maximum aperture of f/1.4 preferably, so that when the converter is attached, the 1 f/stop of light loss provides a still useful effective maximum aperture of f/2, the 50mm f/1.4 lens ...

Review of Sigma EX converter

Macro shooting, Sigma style-ee

Advantages: Good build quality and good value for money .
Disadvantages: Sigma`s claims not met and a slow auto focus .

Owners and uses of DSLR cameras will know that there are dozens of different lenses that can be attached to the cameras to enable different types of photography to be done correctly. The original or kit lenses that come with most DSLR`s are capable of doing a bit of everything but only at low levels, if you want to take certain images, get long zoom possibilities or shoot creatively then you need to get the right lens for the right job. One favourite with a lot of DSLR users is Macro photography which is basically shooting close ups of things, the average camera lens will only focus properly at a minimum distance of around 59cm whereas a macro lens will let you get in much closer. This particular lens (Sigma EX macro lens - 50 mm F/2.8) allows you to focus on objects as close in as 20cm. Sigma make many other claims about ...
