...until I started using the Slendertone Bum and Thigh (BT) shorts. The day after using these shorts I could certainly feel where these muscles were located! I've only had these shorts a few days, but I bought these shorts as an accompaniment to the Flex Max belt, and as promised in my FM review, here are my first impressions of the BT shorts.
For those who aren't aware of Slendertone or the EMS craze, then I will briefly bring you up ... ...your muscles. As with all Slendertone products, because the unit remembers your sessions and the levels you are at; it is not advisable to share the shorts with anyone else as they could be started at a level that is too high for their muscles.

Well no neither did I until I started using the Slendertone Bum and Thigh (BT) shorts. The day after using these shorts I could certainly feel where these muscles were located! I've only had these shorts a few days, but I bought these shorts as an accompaniment to the Flex Max belt, and as promised in my FM review, here are my first impressions of the BT shorts.
For those who aren't aware of Slendertone or the EMS craze, then I will briefly bring you up to speed. EMS is Electric Muscle Stimulation and Slendertone provide a range of body toning garments that use EMS. EMS basically stimulates your muscles to contract and relax as they would during exercise, however, you don't have to put in the same level of effort you do during normal sit-ups or squats etc as the belts, shorts etc work the muscles for you. Therefore it is possible to obtain a beach body without going anywhere near a gym or even leaving your house!
The BT shorts consist of 6 pads in total; 1 large and 1 small located to the rear of each leg/ on your gluteal (bum) muscles, and a smaller pad on the front of each leg to work the thighs. The shorts are made of a stretchy Lycra style material and the sides are fastened with Velcro. Admittedly the pads are slightly fiddly to work with. The book advises you to apply the pads to the shorts prior to putting them on (which makes sense) and remove the protective covering once the shorts are on (again makes sense but requires the patience of a saint!). Applying the pads to the shorts and putting them on was the easy bit, but trying to remove the pad covers to apply them to the skin was fiddly and time consuming ~ I'd recommend getting a friend or partner to help you if possible as the pads down the backs of the legs are particularly hard to reach to pull the covers off. As a hint if you are on your own though, I suggest putting the shorts on but not fastening anything, sliding your hand down the back and side to reach the upper back pads and then doing the front and lower back pads from the side. Be aware though, the system control system kept bleeping pad contact problems (it is helpful in that it indicates with an arrow which side the problem is on) and I found the smaller pads had tendencies to curl at the corners (which kept happening hence it being time consuming and testing my patience). Also ensure the control panel is fully clicked into place (i.e. not showing any of the pin below upon which it is connected with) otherwise it flags it up as pad contact problems which can be time consuming if you repeatedly check pads and don't find a problem!
So putting all my minor introductory/set-up mishaps to one side, I am actually impressed once more with these shorts (and have to add I haven't had any further problems with pad contact problems etc since my initial first use). The best way to describe the feeling of these shorts is a deep vibration down the backs of your legs, although be wary of progressing too high too quickly as it can sting a bit (presumably due to the increased sensitivity of the general area). There are 4 programmes that allow you to progress up to an intensity of 99, and each session has a set number of sessions that allow you to gradually increase intensities at a rate that is both comfortable and suitable for your muscles. As with all Slendertone products, because the unit remembers your sessions and the levels you are at; it is not advisable to share the shorts with anyone else as they could be started at a level that is too high for their muscles.
So now all the technical stuff to one side, it's personal opinion time! Aside from the pad issues to begin with, I'm thoroughly impressed with these shorts. They are both sporty in design and fit, and I am able to comfortably wear mine under a pair of jeans, with the control panel over the top to adjust the intensities. Although I cannot visibly see any results yet (which realistically I would not expect after just 6 sessions), I can, however, feel the results in that my bum feels a LOT more pert as it should be and trousers that were once tight around my bum do feel of looser fit. I have noticed that my skin around my bum/thigh area feels a lot smoother, so this could also be the result in a reduction of the cellulite. I will continue to use these shorts on a twice daily basis alongside my Flex Max belt (which is already delivering good results). I would recommend these BT shorts for definite if you are aiming to tone up and shape your bum/thigh region, but would strongly advise you to have a lot of patience during the set-up period and take care when removing the shorts after use as the pads do have tendencies to curl up and stick due to the shape of the shorts. Definitely worth the results that are beginning to show, especially as the bum/thigh area can be particularly hard to tone, but be forewarned it's not as easy to use as the belts!
