The undisputed king of bivvies - the Nash Titan
Review of Kevin Nash Titan by  yackers1

Advantages: Strong, stable and versatile
Disadvantages: expensive and heavy

...is in its versatility. On hot days and warm nights it can be used without the front panel - and it is like staying under an oval brolly. You can't do that with an Armadillo! During the few hours of dusk where the midges are about you can simply fill in the front with the mosquito net, until they are gone, then the net can be removed. If it starts to rain, or the wind picks up, or you just want that extra privacy and to hide away then the front infill panel can be zipped in in a matter of seconds. So alfresco or covered up it is entirely up to you. The viper is classed as a one and a half man bivvy. It is big enough for the bedchair, bivvy table, lamps, bags, clothing etc, and there is still room to spare. I stayed in mine for a whole week in France, and at no time did I feel claustrophobic. It is big enough to accomodate 2 small 2 leg bed... Read review

Value for money and durable
Review of Snugpak Softie 6 Kestrel by  alimason

Advantages: Durable, light, small
Disadvantages: not good in colder conditions, other bags are smaller

...I've had this bag for about 5 years now and it has really withstanded the wear and tear it has come under: More than 25 weekends sleeping on bare ground, a month long expedition in south america and several bunkhouse trips. In that 5 years it has kept me remarkably warm. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone planning to sleep in temperatures around 0 degrees (C) as unlike the manufactures rating of extreme -5 i would say it is more like 0. It has also prooven to be very useful in warmer conditions, such as indoors, where the full length zip can easily be undone and the fact that there are 2 zippers on one zip means you can easily get some air to your feet whilst keeping your shoulders warm. The drawstring is another good feature as on those colder nights it ensures your shoulders remain covered. However the best aspect of theis bag is its... Read review

Vango's Erections
Review of Vango TBS Equinox 600 Tunnel Tent by  sdwill

Advantages: Lightweight, spacious, well made
Disadvantages: fiddly to put up

...It’s only an op about a tent……honestly! Who’s that fella Vango anyway………….?! I consider myself a hardened camper. My experiences range from a bivvy bag above the Boulder Ruckle in Swanage, to a budget Millets 2-pole tent on the Orkneys, from family holidays in Harlech under a vast canvas and steel construction to New Years Eve in a Vango Force Ten Mk5 in Langdale, as well as several seasons in the Swiss Alps, plus many, many other trips. I have camped in rain, wind, sleet, snow, sun and thunderstorms. I have pitched a tent halfway up a mountain, in tropical jungle, in a lay-by and on the beach. I have had my tents blown away, been soaked to the skin, eaten by midges, infested by ants (and once a hedgehog) and still come back for more. Right, we thought, it’s time to introduce the children to this fabulous pastime. Besides it... Read review
