I own 2 DS Lites, my son has one and my partner does, they come in a great range of colours Black,White,Pink and the newer Blue.
The touch screen on them is great, it makes the games so much more fun and with games like super mario you get mini games that all use the touch screen and they are great fun.
As for the size of it well i carnt complain its small quite slim and light! hence the name.
As for the age recomended on these my son has had one since last christmas and at the time he was 3! and after about a day learnt how to use it better than me lol. some games can be akward for smaller children but the likes of super mario, mario kart, shrek,cars ect are great for them.
Its also very durable my son has dropped his on tiled floor, sat on it and god knows what else and its fine, its also very easy to keep clean.

The Nintendo DS lite is the most recent version of its kind and has been out for good while now. The older version was fatter an heavier, also the screen was not as clear and bright as this one.
The reason I live this small design is because it's so accessible. Carrying it around is so easy and isn't a problem at all.
There are a few colors to choose from, there are white, black, pink and blue, im not sure what others they have. They all have the same functions if you are wondering. Id personally go for the black one as I find it a bit more evil looking which to me just looks cool!
I'd say the sound on this is a lot clearer and louder also which is a good improvement.
if you like your little mini games then this is very good for that very thing as there are so many different games out now which are like mind games, puzzles ...
