Wood (Graphite Shaft) 2009Keep off centre shots in check with the enlarged sweet spot and tungsten nickel weighting. The new WR Fairway Woods are developed with enlarged head volume, a shallow back formation and a deep, low centre of gravity. The enlarged sweet spot at the high impact power face and tungsten nickel weighting keep off centre shots in check resulting in more consistently accurate shots with increased carry and distance.Srixons Industry leading Digital Impact Technology analyses ball and club impact to optimise club head design to deliver the longest drives. Advantages: Large "Sweet Zone", Accurate and Long. Disadvantages: Superceded by the LD and Speed models.
I have owned both the 3-wood and 5-wood in the Cobra SZ "Hyper Steel" FairwayWoods series for approximately 8/9 months and I have to say that I am very impressed with their performance. Previously I had not being a confident player with the fairwaywoods and had struggled for both confidence and consistancy. However, since changing to these clubs I have a new found confidence in my longer clubs and I believe that much of this is due to the amazing contrast between these and my previous woods. The deep face and large clubhead give assurance to even the least confident of fairwaywoods players and I think that the clubs appearance has had a major affect on me. Cobra advertise this "larger profile" as giving players "longer, more accurate shots" and I cannot argue with that from my experience.

Ciao members have rated this review on average: very helpful Review of Cobra SZ Fairway
Advantages: Low price, powerful and nice design Disadvantages: Not suitable for high handicaps due to small head size
The Mizuno MP-001 series of fairwaywoods are available in a wide range of lofts, with a variety of shaft flexes. Due to being released a few years ago, they are now extremely good value and can be picked up for around £50/£70 (steel/graphite) new and prices are coming down all the time. With a simple arrow alignment aid and a compact head these are better suited for the better-player who can guarentee a good strike. Even so, they are very forgiving compared to other low-handicapper woods and hit the ball a long way. In my opinion they are just as good as any other club out and are un-matched for value. For any decent golfer these are a good adition to the golf bag, and the 7-wood in particular is a lovely golf club. If you like to shape the ball it is also easy ...
Advantages: Find out why I was absent from Ciao for so much of last year. Disadvantages: Find out how I snatched disaster from the jaws of success!
On 19th January last year I published a very up-beat review of my personal 2008, a year which in many respects had, for us at least, been one of the best. I was full of optimism for 2009, which had already gotten off to a good start. Whilst that review was generally very well received, there was a pattern to the comments along the lines of ?lucky you, we should have been so lucky?. I wondered if I had done the right thing publishing ?my good year? when so many others had obviously had such a very hard time of it.
In actual fact I had published it for that very reason, seeking some kind of lighter hearted take on 2008, having read so much gloom and doom, and even hearing it first hand from a group of my own customers who were already feeling the most bitter-cold wind of change that they had known.
Being a natural born pessimist I ...
