Gust front. The Posleen have invaded the Earth. They are big reptilian looking aliens and they hate humans with a ferocity. The book is essentially a war/ resistance type novel with lots of battles and counter insurgency rear guard actions. The book follows differing teams of human fighter as they each have a story and a battle to fight. Some are successful and some disastrous slaughters. The Polseen are nasty aliens and no empathy comes across in the book, they want to totally dominate the humans and take over the Earth. The characters draw your pity as they fight against overwhelming odds and weapons so advanced only trickery and humans sacrificing themselves can help to defeat the Polseen commandos. There are a couple of sub plots and equally a couple of twist but they are not much to speak of and for me ...

Gust Front - A Decent Novel

Disadvantages: NONE

Gust front. Author - John Ringo. A short review today. This book continues on from 'A Hymn before Battle'. You don't really need to read the first book but it would lay a little more meat on the bones of this story. Initially in the first book the POSLEEN where attempting to invade Earth, however in this book they are HERE. The battle descriptions are quite good and colourfully written, remember this is escapism sci-fi. Which means there is no need for the more 'techno' accuracy, which accompanies some sci-fi books? Some of the old characters from the first book are still here, with a host of new and surprisingly well fleshed out members of the fighting force. A rather odd and to be honest annoying trait appears in this book in which, at the end of a chapter, dialogue is introduced from one of the characters and is ...

Super Sunderland

Advantages: Good squad, great stadium, dedicated players and fans
Disadvantages: Lacking financial clout

Sunderland have returned to the top division recently with an eye for success - they have an illustrious record which includes 2 FA cup wins, in 1937 and 1973, and an impressive 6 top flight titles, which includes a dominant period between 1892 and 1902 when they won the top division 4 times, and also a win in 1913 and one in 1936. They won the first division in 1999 to catapult them back into the Premiership and are busy re-establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with within the premiership.
