local hero boards .... shaped by graham bunt
Advantages: hand shape and personalized Disadvantages: none noticeable
...out my proffesional surf courier local hero have been the best. first of all when u ask to get a board made graham will ask u ur hight and ur wieght to make exactly the right board for u. next of he will ask u for the design. this design can be anything, u can bring in ur own design and ask him to get it done on the board. the result is absulutly stunning.
u have the pleasure of surfing ur personalized board with a hand painted design on top. the ... ...surfed have reached way above my seal of approval (which is quite high). my advise if u have just started surfing is to get a local hero board since it is so much easier to start on a board that is made for u.

My board
Advantages: light , beautiful, fast, balanced. Disadvantages: expensive, bumpy surface after first surf
I am a surfer. for those of you who don't know anything about surfing, its a way of life. its addictive, its sportive, its fun and most of the time you don't want to get out of the water no matter who is waiting outside (useualy my wife waves at me for a whole hour).
about a year and a half ago, as we were walking in central london, i desided to go in the "quik silver" shop to see whats new. as i was looking at the boards thay had, the seller came ... ...board to suit my needs (my colors, my high, my waight, and any other spesification i want) and its not that expensive (about £450).
the only thing i could do is start begging (to my wife) until finally she agreed. i had a smile of a smily face for a week. i ordered it, paid and waited patienty until it came (it took two monthes to manufacture in france) and i had to try it.
for that reason only we went to newquey and stayed in a hotel for a week ...

Bic 7"2 honest opinion.
Advantages: Cheaper and stronger than a custom. High re-sale value. Disadvantages: Heavy, Un-manouverable. Too much float.
A Bic board is an obvious choice as you have probably seen a lot of them about. However, it really is a beginner's board- and that's it. It's great when you are learning as it is indestructible (made of plastic) and sturdy but if you surf regularly, you will quickly find that the board is too heavy and un-manoeuvrable. You will out grow the board as soon as as you start going down the line (catching and surfing the wave before it breaks by going ... ...the family holidays then a Bic is perfect as it will be easy to learn and have fun on becuase it is hard to turn (and is therefore quite sturdy) big (so it picks up waves more easily (generally the bigger the board the easier it is catch waves) and hard to break. It is also roughly 100 pounds cheaper than a custom board.
Cheap perfect beginer boards to also consider are NSP boards (also cheap plastic boards-but a little more sylish than BiC's) and ...

Bunty Boards r brill
Advantages: It's a good solid board. Ideal for intermediate to expert. Beautifully made. Recommend the 6'10" for Uk waves Disadvantages: None
...waves ranging from 2'+, the Bunty 6'10" is a superb board. It's smooth fast and very easy to handle. Best buy ever. If you are progressing from a mini-mal, this is definitely one of the best boards that you could buy. They are used by many top surfers including myself. Quite a rare board but if you look hard enough you may be able to get your hands on a second hand one. The value of the board stays fairly constant so if you ever want to change your ...

Surfs up
Advantages: Nice easy board Disadvantages: none
I have a Zuma Jay 7 ‘’2’ long and 3’’ thick surf board. It is just so smooth and the Zuma Jay board design is well cool. I got it second hand in Braunton for just £110. I got it in surfed out which is a well good shop. For just £110 it might sound crap but the guy made a mistake a sold it to me for that much from £150 (which he got in quite a bit of trouble for). If you are in North Devon looking for a board, go to Braunton there must be about 10 ...
