Bic 7"2 honest opinion.
Review of Bic 72" by pannell2612

Advantages: Cheaper and stronger than a custom. High re-sale value.
Disadvantages: Heavy, Un-manouverable. Too much float.

A Bic board is an obvious choice as you have probably seen a lot of them about. However, it really is a beginner's board- and that's it. It's great when you are learning as it is indestructible (made of plastic) and sturdy but if you surf regularly, you will quickly find that the board is too heavy and un-manoeuvrable. You will out grow the board as soon as as you start going down the line (catching and surfing the wave before it breaks by going ...
...the family holidays then a Bic is perfect as it will be easy to learn and have fun on becuase it is hard to turn (and is therefore quite sturdy) big (so it picks up waves more easily (generally the bigger the board the easier it is catch waves) and hard to break. It is also roughly 100 pounds cheaper than a custom board. Cheap perfect beginer boards to also consider are NSP boards (also cheap plastic boards-but a little more sylish than BiC's) and ... Bunty Boards r brill
Review of Bunty Surfboards by Larry72

Advantages: It's a good solid board. Ideal for intermediate to expert. Beautifully made. Recommend the 6'10" for Uk waves
Disadvantages: None

...waves ranging from 2'+, the Bunty 6'10" is a superb board. It's smooth fast and very easy to handle. Best buy ever. If you are progressing from a mini-mal, this is definitely one of the best boards that you could buy. They are used by many top surfers including myself. Quite a rare board but if you look hard enough you may be able to get your hands on a second hand one. The value of the board stays fairly constant so if you ever want to change your ... Read review

Surfs up
Review of Zuma Jay Surfboards by samk

Advantages: Nice easy board
Disadvantages: none

I have a Zuma Jay 7 ‘’2’ long and 3’’ thick surf board. It is just so smooth and the Zuma Jay board design is well cool. I got it second hand in Braunton for just £110. I got it in surfed out which is a well good shop. For just £110 it might sound crap but the guy made a mistake a sold it to me for that much from £150 (which he got in quite a bit of trouble for). If you are in North Devon looking for a board, go to Braunton there must be about 10 ... Read review

My nose, my nose, its broken.
Review of Bic Techno 273 by margyle

Advantages: Nice when planing.
Disadvantages: Nose breaks off too easily & BIC customer relations are very poor.

...sailing it with a 6.8 BIC Logic freeride sail and a 5.5 Tushingham Storm sail in winds up to force 5. It's an OK board as soon as you get it planing, its responsive and you can throw it into aggressive moves and it is quite forgiving. In winds that are not strong enough to get the board planing it is slow, it would be better to find a board with more volume for these conditions. My major problem, with this otherwise pretty good board, is that the ...
...Wittering, UK) and they say BIC are not accepting any responsibility for what is in essense a bad design fault, worse than that, the shop owner had just come back from a windsurfing trade show where BIC retailers were asking the company what they are going to do about the problem. BIC acknowledged the fault but said they are not admitting liability and next years models are using the same nose design ! The moral of the story is : the Techno 273 ... Read review
