The Suunto D6 is good looking but not entirely reliable 1 of 2 Ciao Users found the following review helpful

Advantages good looks, compass

Disadvantages breaks easily, bad software, strap is not reliable

My experience -

I have had my Suunto d6 for almost 2 and a half years now and already it has almost cost me as much in repairs as the computer cost in the first place which is nearly £500. Firstly the strap needed to be replaced after 300 dives, secondly the buttons malfunctioned and it reset itself during the dive and then recently after replacing the housing from a broken screen it reset itself during a dive again whilst at 25m, which is a safety concern. The screen is level with the metal housing so even with a svreen protector it is easy to smash the screen which happened a few months ago meaning the whole housing must be replaced. This was not cheap. I think this is a great computer for the fashion conscious holiday diver but for a dive professional it is just not durable! Despite these flaws that maybe have just occured in my computer, I think it does have several features that make it very nice to use. The digital compass is a great backup compass but I would only use it as a backup as it is fairly slow to react and has to be calibrated quite often. There is the choice to switch between different gas mixes and the gauge mode is great for freediving. There is a digital timer that can be used whilst in dive mode and the watch gives you full deco stop data. The dive profile is displayed after the dive and can then be uploaded onto your laptop and used a as a virtual dive log. Overall....great for the holiday diver
