SUUNTO "GEKKO" DIVE COMPUTOR After getting into scuba diving this was the first piece of equipment that I purchased. I bought it at Male airport in the Maldives for £130 about 15 months ago.
Description The "Gekko" is an ideal choice for divers who do not require PC interface or simulation features. The "Gekko" is suitable for both air and nitrox and is designed to give specifics of any diving situation including decompression at a glance. Both ascent rate and available no-decompression time are displayed graphically with clear, colour coded indicators. A feature which I really like is the visual and audio alarms given when necessary. Maximum depth and dive time alarms can be enabled too.
It's extremely simple to operate with easy to use buttons and a straightforward menu. It also has an extensive logbook which stores up to 50 hours of dive profiles & logbook data, including dive start time, date, dive time and maximum depth attained. It should keep the keenest of divers happy as it can store a dive history of 999 dives and 999 dive hours and will also record the maximum depth ever reached.
It has a handy superbright phosphorescent LCD display which can also be charged with a dive torch. It comes with a clear plastic display shield to avoid scratching and damage to computer face whilst diving.
How To Wear I wear the "GEKKO" as wristwatch style .It has a fully adjustable if not somewhat over generous strap. It can also be mounted in one of Suunto's combo consoles.
Battery These can be replaced once they run out (depending on how much it is used). They retail for about £12.95 online.
Where To Buy The "Suunto" can be bought in many good dive shops, for example simply scuba or online if you just type the product name into Google.
