...Last Christmas, my mum (a.k.a. "Santa") got the family a Wii Fit - hinting at my sister and I that we need to keep fit. I'm going to admit, I'm a bit fat. Now, I'm not one of those people you see in documentaries who can't get out of bed because they're huge but I could stand to lose a stone or two. I used to go to the gym twice a week but I found it too difficult and it was straining keeping up with my trainer, and I felt embarassed whenever I told him I couldn't do something. I did lose about half a stone though so I was happy about that. When I started using the Wii fit I was a bit anxious about trying it out because it had been a while since I'd been to the gym and I wasn't too keen to let my family see how unfit I was! You are given the opportunity to set an amount of weight you want to lose or gain and the timescale in terms of weeks in which you want to do this. If you get a bit carried away - the Wii will remind you that a healthy amount to lose is 2lbs a week and will strongly advise you to set an obtainable goal! ...Fit and are wondering about an upgrade I suggest you skip the next few paragraphs and head for "What's new". Basically what it comprises is software for the Wii and a 'Balance Board' - this is like a large set of weighing scales which you stand on for many of the exercises and games. It is solid enough when you stand on it the 'balance' element is that it can cleverly calculate your weight, how much weight you put on each foot and also where your centre of gravity is - you don't actually have to 'balance' on it as it doesn't move around.
