Well I don't know how much you can say about a front tyre for a mountain bike. I bought these from wiggle.co.uk at a bargin price and they have not let me down yet.
They replaced my tioga tyres which, frankly, were old and going alittle bold (like their owner!). The tyres arrived anfd they look spangley with a red trim around the tyre wall and a sparse looking pattern of nobbles (which worried me). They also have kevalar beeding around the edge which, for all you techo's, means you can fold them up and bung a spare tyre in your pack, just incase. The Kevalar also means they are lighter than wire beeded tyres.
Right then, I got the shiney new tyres, put the on the bike (which was an easy job - no complaints there), and took them out on a 55km race. They were great, we went through mud, chalk, rain showers, loose flint, pine needle forests and anything else the South Downs can throw at you and they did not let me down, they have great grip - despite the rather sparse looking nobble pattern. They are recommended for loose dry conditions, but I found they worked fine in all of the above. I also found the amount of control you have in turning is much improved over the tioga's.
I have had them on the bike for about 2 months now and they are surviving really well. In that time I have probably done about 750 km on them and they still look and perform great.
I rate them, and you can purcahse them at bargin prices from many of the mountain bike internet shop sites. Enjoy.
