A 4 man tent with no men! (HONEST)!!
Advantages: Just a cool looking, well designed and functional tent. Disadvantages: None for me.
...tent in question was a Confidence Mars 4 Man Waterproof Dome Tent and although it is a 4 “MAN” tent there were only me and my two girlfriends staying in this one (well that’s my story and I am sticking to it)!
Now I am no camper so I cannot really give too much comparison between this tent and any other except to say it was worlds apart from the old tents I used to camp in as a kid. This tent has one separate bedroom compartment with zippers which ... ...up some guy and needed a bit of privacy (BUT WE DIDNT)!!
It also had air vents so whilst being completely waterproof it did not become sweaty and therefore wetter inside than it was out, possibly the best thing about the tent for me was the overhanging canopy that meant we could lean out the tent for a cigarette without getting wet when it was raining (GENIOUS)!
The tent was very strong and as well as being waterproof it also seemed to be very ...

The Gelert Solo - Stubborn in the best possible manner!
Advantages: Lightweight, Small Pack Size, Durable, Attractive Design Disadvantages: Small living/ sleeping space; Flysheet not easily secured to inner; Inner-First pitching
The Gelert Solo is a lightweight, 2-skin tent which is great for cyclists or walkers. It is also good for those campers who enjoy the group camping but not the sleeping in a big tent. You can think of this as a, seperate sleeping space once all the festivities have died down. The inner-first construction can be seen as a disadvantage seeing as the inner is almost completly mesh and would get incredibly wet if you were pitching it in adverse weather ... ...apart. But, come morning, my Gelert Solo was in one piece whereas my companions Gelert Mongoose (basically the same tent just a 2-man version) had sustained damage. The groundsheet will keep dampness out from the ground, and although cnodensation is a big issue in winter, in the summer it's not so bad. One unpredicted advantage must be that the mesh inner is a great way to ease you out of a phobia of creepy-crawleys! Knowing they can't get you is ...

The ups and downs of a family tent.
Advantages: Lots of space for everyone. Disadvantages: No longer made.
The Khyam Michigan 12 was only made in 2007 so can be hard to come by now. But if you are after a large, well set out tent, and you find one of these then grab it whilst you can. The tent is an outer pitch first, or all in one. Personally we leave the inners in place which reduces the pitching time. The tent itself is large and can be difficult and heavy to put up. Saying that I am under 5ft and have limited mobility so if me and hubby can put it ... ...it is pouring down. Khyam did not make a carpet for this tent but we found a Gelert one that fitted nicely. As for the poles, they have withstood plenty of wind. So far after two years of use, only one fibreglass pole has split. This has been repaired and is still holding up. Two spares come with the tent. These 5 poles go across the top with steel ones holding them up at the sides. The tent is 5000HH, and this has again, been put to the test on ...

Excellent Family Tent
Advantages: Spacious, easy to erect Disadvantages: Fairly bulky, only for car touring
I have owned this tent for a couple of years, and can honestly say it's one of the best I have owned. There are some great deals out there for this tent now, and at around £150 it's an absolute bargain. Easy to put up, the only thing I would say is that you do need to peg all the guy lines out. On a balmy summers day I decided not connect them all, and it was noticeable when the wind picked up. As soon as they were all hammered in, the tent was steady ...

Ultra-bad pricey Robens Summer Wind Ultra-Lite Tent
Advantages: cute lime color, low weight Disadvantages: everything else
This has been one of the worst tents I've used in my life. Sure, it's lightweight, colors are nice, and the floor plastic feels sticky, but the side-stitches snapped at the ropes when someone nearly tripped over one of them. That is real bad quality stitching I'm afraid! Aside from that the size is terrible as well. If two persons are supposed to fit in there, they must be midgets. One can barely sit up at the front. That's not mentioning the fact ... ...begin with. You have to buy them separately, or use sticks or something. Also, because it had only one layer, it is extremely cold and barely isolated against the outside weather. If it gets moist during the night, everything that's inside this tent gets moist as well. When it rains, the cloth leaks when touched. And trust me, you'll touch it because it is so low and claustrophobic inside. Next time just allow yourself to lift a kilo or two more ...
