Advantages: value for money, ease of erecting, space, ventilation, weight Disadvantages: ventilation, mine leaked
I bought this tent from a discount online store. This is a tunnel tent and relies entirely on being properly pegged to stay erect but once it's pitched I found it more stable in the wind than any dome. On my own I can have it up in 5 minutes.
The living area is almost the same size as the inner tent and big enough to kneel up in. The tent comfortably sleeps 2 adults and accomodates 2 adults and a small child. The living area sets it apart from any ... ...weather is so unpredictable. You could easily cook and spend a few hours in there without feeling uncomfortable! It's also good for cycling as bikes and luggage can be stored in the front and it only weighs 4.2kg which is a good bit less than similar makes.
Inner tent has a lot of vents; good for summer but if it's cold take a warmer sleeing bag. Also, mine had a leak just off the seam in the fly sheet where it looked like the tape hadn't been laid ...
Advantages: plenty of room, long lasting, easy to erect, ideal for backpacking Disadvantages: weight
I have had this tent since 2003; it has just started to leak in 2007 from the ground sheet. It is easy and quick to erect and is less effort than most new tents on the market.
I used this tent to backpack around Britain it has done the Pennine Way, Coast to Coast, Peddars Way, Cumbrian Way, West Highland Way, and Norfolk coastal walk. I also have used it in deep snow, up mountains in the wild and on a weekly basis in my work. It is an excellent ... ...range.
I loved this tent, for when there are 2 people; you both have your own door and your own storage for boots and such outside the flysheet but inside the outer shell. This also gives you options for cooking too. There are 4 generous sized mesh pockets for torches and things you may need to store, two-way zips for ventilation.
Many People would argue that because you have to put the inner up first, it is not as good for protection in the rain, ...
Advantages: Good size, quite high, sturdy, easy to put up Disadvantages: Large and quite heavy when packed
...to stand up it. The Vango Venture 500 was set up and was a winner as soon as we looked at it.
Dimensions and Layout
The tent measures approximately 12' X 8' and is about 5'10" high at the highest point. There is a large porch at the front which takes up about a third of the length of the tent, and the rest is taken up by the bedroom.
The Porch
The porch is a good enough size to set up a table and two chairs to eat if required, as ... ...wind and some rain. The Vango Venture 500 stood up to the wind brilliantly considering its size and height and as long as it is well pegged down it can withstand quite strong winds with very little problems.
We had a little rain this weekend and had no problems with leaks however we have been out in fairly heavy rain before and this manages to find its way through the material so I would not recomend it in the rain, however it is only advertised ...
In my opinion, this is probably the best Mid to Large tent that you could wish for. Unfortunately, as a previous reviewer wrote, it is rather heavy and although it is easy to erect it does take time as there is an awful lot of pegging down to do. However, once erected, it's like living in a palace, especially when like us, there is only my wife and I. We have weathered some quite severe storms with both wind and rain, where you felt like it was going ...
Advantages: Very Easy to put up Disadvantages: Takes a couple of goes to put it away. Easy once you know how
...easy. I also bought a Quechua blow up bed to use with it, the two together were the perfect match. I can't praise these enough I am yet to find a better make of tent. I recommend these to anyone looking for a quick and easy tent. I have also found a really good website to buy them from. www.quechua-tents.com There were so easy to buy from and I got the tent the next day with no hassle. ...
