My Tent with Rooms
Advantages: Breathable fabric keeps cool in the heat and warm when it is cooler Disadvantages: It is quite weighty and quite expensive
...We quickly stumbled upon the Outwell Classic range of tents, as the local Yeomans camping store in my village has a vast display. I also have to admit I was somewhat seducted by the names of their tents, Bear Lake, Wolf Lake, Indian Lake, Norfolk Lake, Trout Lake – all conjuring up images of camping in the Canadian wilderness with only a fishing rod and a campstove for company. One day. However, having gone to both Yeomans and one of the large “Go ... ...about the Outwell Classic range is the fabric they are made of. The fabric is called Outtex Airtech, and is a polycotton, perhaps a little bit more in keeping with a more traditional tent. However, the tent felt comfortable to sit in when it was very warm outside as it is a more breathable fabric - and many of the polyester tents are stifling inside during the hot weather. The density and weight of the fabric also seemed to be more stable during ...

Very Affordable Holiday Home!!
Advantages: Good size, quite high, sturdy, easy to put up Disadvantages: Large and quite heavy when packed
...to stand up it. The Vango Venture 500 was set up and was a winner as soon as we looked at it.
Dimensions and Layout
The tent measures approximately 12' X 8' and is about 5'10" high at the highest point. There is a large porch at the front which takes up about a third of the length of the tent, and the rest is taken up by the bedroom.
The Porch
The porch is a good enough size to set up a table and two chairs to eat if required, as ... ...wind and some rain. The Vango Venture 500 stood up to the wind brilliantly considering its size and height and as long as it is well pegged down it can withstand quite strong winds with very little problems.
We had a little rain this weekend and had no problems with leaks however we have been out in fairly heavy rain before and this manages to find its way through the material so I would not recomend it in the rain, however it is only advertised ...

The Gelert Solo - Stubborn in the best possible manner!
Advantages: Lightweight, Small Pack Size, Durable, Attractive Design Disadvantages: Small living/ sleeping space; Flysheet not easily secured to inner; Inner-First pitching
The Gelert Solo is a lightweight, 2-skin tent which is great for cyclists or walkers. It is also good for those campers who enjoy the group camping but not the sleeping in a big tent. You can think of this as a, seperate sleeping space once all the festivities have died down. The inner-first construction can be seen as a disadvantage seeing as the inner is almost completly mesh and would get incredibly wet if you were pitching it in adverse weather ... ...apart. But, come morning, my Gelert Solo was in one piece whereas my companions Gelert Mongoose (basically the same tent just a 2-man version) had sustained damage. The groundsheet will keep dampness out from the ground, and although cnodensation is a big issue in winter, in the summer it's not so bad. One unpredicted advantage must be that the mesh inner is a great way to ease you out of a phobia of creepy-crawleys! Knowing they can't get you is ...

The ups and downs of a family tent.
Advantages: Lots of space for everyone. Disadvantages: No longer made.
The Khyam Michigan 12 was only made in 2007 so can be hard to come by now. But if you are after a large, well set out tent, and you find one of these then grab it whilst you can. The tent is an outer pitch first, or all in one. Personally we leave the inners in place which reduces the pitching time. The tent itself is large and can be difficult and heavy to put up. Saying that I am under 5ft and have limited mobility so if me and hubby can put it ... ...it is pouring down. Khyam did not make a carpet for this tent but we found a Gelert one that fitted nicely. As for the poles, they have withstood plenty of wind. So far after two years of use, only one fibreglass pole has split. This has been repaired and is still holding up. Two spares come with the tent. These 5 poles go across the top with steel ones holding them up at the sides. The tent is 5000HH, and this has again, been put to the test on ...

Excellent Family Tent
Advantages: Spacious, easy to erect Disadvantages: Fairly bulky, only for car touring
I have owned this tent for a couple of years, and can honestly say it's one of the best I have owned. There are some great deals out there for this tent now, and at around £150 it's an absolute bargain. Easy to put up, the only thing I would say is that you do need to peg all the guy lines out. On a balmy summers day I decided not connect them all, and it was noticeable when the wind picked up. As soon as they were all hammered in, the tent was steady ...
