...Initially I was very dubious on the whole new revolution that is a hybrid club, despite friends telling me how good they are. Put simply a hybrid is a new type of club that is part-driver, part-iron and looks exactly like you'd imagine, the face is like an iron but the back of the club is a similar shape to a driver. I'd always thought of these clubs as a gimmicky-satellite tv shopping channel waste of money….. until I tried one. I had decided to change my irons so took a trip down to a local golf shop/driving range to try out the Callaway X-20's. After I'd hit a few shots with a Callaway X-20 7-iron I went back and spoke to the club pro about the problem I was facing. The only reason I wanted to buy a new set of irons was because I couldn't use my 'skinny' 3-4 iron effectively enough, the clubs offered so little forgiveness... Read review

...For a man of my limited ability playing the game with a handicap of 24, Ping clubs would be a luxury but wasted money in my case. I had never owned a rescue club or recovery club as these hybrids are more commonly known and my golf suffered whenever I found my ball in the semi rough or slightly off the fairway. No matter what club I used I could never get any distance out of the crap I was in. I did eventually discuss the rescue clubs, as I prefer to call the hybrids, with fellows golfers at my club and found their advice very helpful. The majority agreed that buying the Ping, Taylor made, Callaway and other famous well used brands of the professional golfers would be a waste of money and to search for more reasonably priced hybrids. Advantages: decent clubs, very cheap

...happy and couldn't quite believe that they cost just £57.99 and this included the bag too! I went straight to the local driving range and hit about 100 balls using most of the clubs and was delighted with them. I have since played about eight rounds of golf with the clubs and they feel great. The set is designed for novice / intermediate players and the clubs have enlarged heads to guarantee that you should hit the ball with more accuracy, which helps when you are just starting out. The set comprises of a 3 wood driver, a hybrid club which is the equivalent of a 2 or 3 iron, a 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, pitching wedge and sand wedge. Of all the clubs I find the 9 iron and the 6 irons the easiest to use, with the hybrid club the most difficult - probably because it is quite long and this would emphasis floors in you're swing...
