Advantages: Warm, light, confortable Disadvantages: No shoulder/neck baffle, zip can snag at times.
...The Piute (also availble; woman\'s Piute) is a warm and cozy sleepingbag. Its price is a reflection of its quality and appears reasonable compared to other bags of similar specifictions. Its lightweight design is very useful for back packing or anytime that space is at a premium. It comes with a small stuff sack that it fits into neatly, although could be compressed further (not recomended for down bags, especially not for longer periods of time).
The hood offers superb protection from the cold although it could possibly benefit from a second draw string baffle around the neck.shoulders area. However the drawstring around the top of the hood to enclose around the face is confortable and good at keeping the heat in whist allowing freedom of movement.
When using this bag i (very) occasionally have a little trouble with the zip...

...are normally only found in down bags.
Ive only used this bag a few times, in the scotish highlands and in the north of wales whilst climbing in winter. Although i did sacrafice precious space and weight by opting for this bag, it did provide superb comfort and heat which was a well earned luxury after a hard day climbing.
This bag was pretty cheap considering the product in hand. It was £90 from my local 'Outdoors' camping shop, and considering it gives better properties than some £200 downbags, i take it as quite a bargin.
My bag came in some strange green colour which i think looks pretty ok compared to some sleepingbag colours. It came with an excellent compression sack which reduces the size of the bag by about 1/3 (shame it doesnt do the same for the weight.)
At around 2.5 kg it is slightly heavy for a sleepingbag, considering my...

Advantages: Warm, designed specifically with children in mind, extendable Disadvantages: The toggles get in the way!
...We were going camping and taking the children for the first time. So we looked at kitting them out so that they would be comfortable and warm. One of the most important items, if you’re sleeping outside, is a sleepingbag. There’s nothing more miserable than being cold and uncomfortable, especially if you’re a child. Being cold and uncomfortable in the middle of the night when you’re sleeping in a strange environment is probably the worst of all. Even for adults. Both my husband and I have tried out various types of sleepingbag through the years and have learnt one or two things – never trust the manufacturers temperature ratings and buy the warmest bag you can afford.
To choose the right sleepingbag you have to consider several things – how warm you need it to be, where you are going to use it, whether it needs to be very...
