...The Piute (also availble; woman\'s Piute) is a warm and cozy sleepingbag. Its price is a reflection of its quality and appears reasonable compared to other bags of similar specifictions. Its lightweight design is very useful for back packing or anytime that space is at a premium. It comes with a small stuff sack that it fits into neatly, although could be compressed further (not recomended for downbags, especially not for longer periods of time).
The hood offers superb protection from the cold although it could possibly benefit from a second draw string baffle around the neck.shoulders area. However the drawstring around the top of the hood to enclose around the face is confortable and good at keeping the heat in whist allowing freedom of movement.

Advantages: light , quick and easy to inflate/deflate, extremely comfortable Disadvantages: initial outlay is a little expensive but not unreasonably so.
...This is a sleepingpad and is rather like an inflatable air mattress in many ways. We backpack in many places and our favourite way, when we have the time, is to hike for several days. Big Agnes make 2 types of air core pad, the rectangular and the mummy. The mummypad tapers at the ends and is a similar shape to a coffin. I prefer the rectangular mainly because I like the extra room at my head. We have had ours some time and now they make an insulated version of these pads. They have also made an upgrade kit for the air core which you can buy instead of having to buy the whole pad set up, which...

Advantages: Extremely Warm. Considerable Amount Of Down Disadvantages: I Can't Think Of Any
...collar system which maintains full and even loft in the head and shoulder areas. One of the more common heat loss regions. An inner zipper running parallel to the outer zipper keeps the differential cut at a constant thickness, combined with the double draft tubes this completely seals in the warm air. The Snowy Owl is the standard choice for expeditions on the highest mountains in the world or the most remote areas of the North and South Poles. For extended sub zero camping, we highly recommend using VBL (Vapor Barrier Lock) technologies in your expeditions. "
I have since purchased one of these bags, but had one slightly custom made. Instead of the normal length, I had a longet length bag made, with an upgradr from the usual 700+ fill power, to an upgrade of 800+ fill power .
