Ask a snowboarder whether they’ve got comfy boots and he or she will probably groan and whip off a sock to reveal some stunning blister scars.
Yes, I’ve been to boot hell and back too but, finally, all that has changed. I’ve joined the smug minority who lace up their boots in the morning and never give them a second thought during a day on the mountain. And it’s all thanks to ThirtyTwo’s Griffons.
I spent nearly three months in Whistler early this year and the Griffon seemed to be the boot footwear of choice there. Lots of the instructors and pros (both male and female) had them - usually a pretty good sign of a quality product.
Griffons are a bit garish to look at - last season’s were blue, yellow and orange. But they’re tall, pretty stiff and very supportive.
With Intuition liners which are heat moulded to your feet, it’s easy to get a good fit. The only thing to remember about buying boots with Intuition liners is to make sure the shop you buy them from has the right heat-moulding equipment and that a proper boot fitter helps you make the most them.
One improvement the Griffon might benefit from is a velcro strap in the liner across the ankle minimise heel lift. But the interior lacing on the outer boot does a pretty good job of keeping the liner in place. The inside laces are a bit fiddly but once your fingers are nimble enough to get right down to the bottom holes, they strap up pretty tight.
My new Griffons felt like lead wellies for the first couple of days but I was able to break them in pretty quickly and now I love them.
Having good boots makes a huge difference to your riding and your happiness. Try a pair of Griffons and you too could find boarding bliss…

What??? Compared to ski boots, snowboard boots are like slippers! Unless they are those ski boots ones. Or step-ins. Hmm. Ok.

Pure snowboarding boots great! This is a very useful opinion, but dont forget to add some indication of cost, prices? Sounds like the awesome piece of kit for some essential snowboarding. A good first opinion , enjoy Ciao. -CH
