I have been the proud owner of a set of Titleist DCI 962s for two years now. Having been advised by a friend that these were the best clubs on the market I now believe this to be true. The DCI 962 is a superb set of clubs designed for the mid to low handicapped golfer. The clubs are based on the bladed clubs of yesteryear accompanied by the modern perimeter weighted clubs of today. Each club, from the three iron to the sand wedge, is a wonderfully crafted club for the serious golfer.
These clubs have helped me to reduce my handicap by a couple of strokes. I bought the clubs with a handicap of 11. Soon after using them to good effect I won two club competitions back to back and got my handicap down to single figures. This must be partially due to the wonderful set I use. The sweet spot is not as large as it’s competitors. They are by their very nature more difficult clubs to use. They require an accurate swing to get the ball travelling in the right direction. Hence for the more experienced player this is the best club on the market. It didn’t take me more than one round to rip a seven iron into the heart of the green followed by the satisfying sight of backspin towards the hole.
I won’t deny it takes effort to come to terms with these clubs. It didn’t take me long. Even during the coupling process there was always one or two shots that effortlessly glided towards the pin and gave me a hint of what I could look forward to in the near future.
I highly recommend any mid to low handicap players (below 20) try these clubs. I have enjoyed playing with them. I have no intention of changing them in the near or distant future. I know if they can knock two shots off my handicap they will be able to do the same for you.
Advantages: Nice feel, good ball flight Disadvantages: not for the high handicapper
...owner of a set of Titleist 962s for about a year and a half and have to say that I am nothing but impressed by them. Being a 9 handicapper at the time I was after a set of clubs that would allow me to hit a variety of shots but also was not keen on having to use blades to achieve this. The 962s are definately worth spending £500 on if you are serious about spending this sort of money. They have a very nice look and look good behind the ball - they ... ...not as small as a blade so you do not worry about mishitting it! The produce a quite a low ball flight and are very easy to move both left to right and right to left. In conclusion I would say that these clubs are perfect for someone who is a low handicapper who is not looking for blades. Very highly recommended indeed. ...
