Having taken up golf in the last year i've lost (and found) alot of golf balls on the local fairways as you might expect, most of these balls are then hit and lost again for someone else to find and so the cycle continues.
That was at least until i slowly showed signs of improvement and treated myself to a sleeve (pack of 3) of Titleist NXT tour golf balls from my local pro shop for £4.99, i must admit i wasnt keen to part with almost a fiver for 3 golf balls but you know the way it is... better equipment will make me a better player right? well funnily enough it may have helped a little.
So what is so special about the NXT tour series of ball?
Well, firstly its round (which helps) so nothing special there then, its when you first tee one up and hit it - that's when you know you've just hit a great ball, when you manage to tee off 20 yards longer than you usually do, when your approach shots go straighter with a more controlled and predictable flight path, when the ball 'drops and stops' on the green and offers great feel to the putter head... thats when you know you've just played a great golf ball - the NXT tour is all that.
As i say these balls are long, i genuinely added 15-20 yards ontop of my average driving distance over many many other brands tested, the balls are soft which offers great feel yet firm enough to provide explosive distance with the driver or 3 wood.
Chipping is sublime and its easy to get the ball down and get it to stop (if you choose to) these beauties do spin which is great when you dont want your ball to keep on running off the green into the rough etc...
The ball runs true on the putting surface, there is a really satisfying feel off the putter face and a consistent roll thats easy to reproduce time after time with a grooved swing or sound technique, these balls really do help you as much as a golf ball can and as such will help your game and possibly take a couple of shots off your round.
The durability of this ball is not an issue, having used them alot lately i can honestly say that they dont scuff up too easily (but they still do scuff obviously) and that you can happily play a couple of rounds with each ball as long as you dont hit every tree and every path on your way round, basically durability is not something you need to be overly concerned with.
Heres a little technical stuff now which wont mean much to most golfers (and even less to non-golfers) but i guess its part of the product im reviewing so im including it...
The inner and outer core are both made of polybutadiene whilst the cover is made of soft fusablend and contains 392 dimples made up of 5 different sizes.
I could at this point go on to tell you that most of the worlds best golfers use Titleist golf balls, needless to say these balls are superb and not your average 'eggs', this is endorsed by their popularity on the tour circuit and of other Titleist products/balls.
I whole heartedly recommend Titleist NXT tour golf balls to anyone who plays golf and wants that little bit extra from their ball without paying £35 for the Pro V1's.
These balls are so very nearly as good in every aspect as the Pro V1's and at a much lower price, as such the NXT tour does not hurt the pocket as much when you lose one, go on and treat yourself to a sleeve... you can always thank me later :)
Advantages: More ball for less Disadvantages: Durabillity
Titleist makes the best golf balls, and has proven them selfs on the pro tour for many years.
This is a Titleist budget ball with almost the same performance and feel as the more expensive brother the Pro V1.
The Cheeter line is very helpfull, for somone that struggles to line up his putts and can even be used to line up the driver giving you better acurisy ultimitly saving you shots on a round. Launches good from the club face and has good controll ...

Advantages: flies when hit and will stop on the green Disadvantages: difficult to control from around the fringe
This golf ball now costs around seven fifty for three and has a "partner ball" in the NXT extreme. The ball is aimed firmly at those who want to get a lot of distance, and maintain as much around the green performance as possible. I find that this version of the NXT requires a real smack to perform ( I play off 19). I have played with some people with fast swings who smack it along way and swear by the ball but if you have a slower swing the new ...

...there is a range of titleist balls on the market that for a fraction of the price perform just as well. last year i used the pro v 1 all season and had some very nice results but i have decided to use the cheaper NXT balls from titleist, alredy the balls are performing just like the pro v1's. i play alot of golf now and have decided to keep using the NXT balls to save the extra cash. So i would recomend you check the other titleist balls on the market ... ...know more about the titleist balls for 2005
